Spanish chokes are designated by * star symbols.

** 3/4 choke .030, or Improved Modified, 65% of Pattern in 30" circle @ 40 yards

*** 1/2 or .020, Modified, 60% of Pattern in 30" circle @ 40 yards

**** 1/4 or .010, Improved Cylinder 50 % of Pattern in 30" circle @ 40 yards

Open choke or Cylinder .000, (.729") 40% of Pattern in 30" circle @ 40 yards

hello mate when you take the berrels off the underside should have sizes stamped on when i brought mine the gunsmith told me it was 1/4 and 3/4 but when i checked it had 18.5 and 18.6 with one star stamped on left barrel and three stars on the right so i think mine is full and 3/4 if you go by the choke notches hope this helped you a bit happy shooting

Sounds like Full and 1/2 to me going by the typical notches/star rating.

I don't know anything much, but my AYA has had the chokes opened up,they were full and 1/4,but now are OPEN and 3/8 apparently, good pigeon gun.so your AYA may not be as they left the factory.

Also out of interest,i'm not sure you could use it for wildfowling as you can only use steel on wetlands,(unless your rich and can afford Bismoth (over £1 each))and I don't think you could push steel shot, say nummber 3 through a full choked gun, could someone with more knowlege clarify this point.

Hello there Rabbit

you cant trust the marks !

Most old guns have been worked on at some stage if its ever been bored or even a fine polish it will have made the chokes tighter

Best bet is to take it to a competant gunsmith and get him to check it for you

Wb

if you checked the marks on mine it would say 1/4 an full, it is actually 1/4 & 1/2 becasuee i had the one barrell done, best bet as sated is to get someone to check it for you or buy a choke guage

Could you tell me if the * symbols apply to all spanish guns, as i have a Laurona m/c and have been trying to identify which choke is which from the number of ******** on them, your help would be greatly appreciated.
