graysclassics
OK you lot, anyone have any plans (or links to plans) to make an electric flapper? I have found the electronic control boxes on ebay for £12 so that takes care of that, but have you seen the ripoff prices we are being charged for the commerical flappers? It's not that I object to paying the money for a good bit of kit - BUT have you seen the postage for them £14 the average just to post a flapper! Someone needs shooting and it aint just the pigeon..! All it needs is a bit of steel & a windscreen wiper motor to make a rotary magnet - it can't be that hard to make a decent electric flapper? Can it.... graysclassics
OK so UK Shoot Warehouse might make a couple of quid. £58 seems cool. £12 p&p still seems steep. (me tight? never....!) I still might copy it and make another couple - perhaps I could deek magpies & crows in an adjacent field while decoying pigeon in another. Anyone got any plans for a rotary chair...!...

The £12 we charge is basically what we get charged guys. Obviously we have to factor in the cost of the packing and the packers wages but we are working hard to get the postal costs down and this should be happening very soon so even better news for you. As said in many a thread earlier. What a rip off the price for postage & packaging. The smaller the tin pot firm the higher the costs. The big boys can waiver most of the p&p costs Jonno
Deako
jonno, You really do have a bee in your bonnet about P&P costs don't you? For once I'm going to agree with Will! Courier costs in the UK are VERY expensive, not ours or Wills fault, just the way it is fella. For us to post out a flapper costs us £7.50 courier fee, £1.20 packaging fee, and roughly 50p in wages. We actually charge the customer a total of £7.50...so we make a LOSS. It has to go by courier so it can actually get there and be signed for (due to ********* who claim "it didn't arrive mate..."), and it has to be insured. I spent weeks in meetings with most of the UK couriers and this was the best QUALITY service I could get, however, if you can find us a better deal, one where we actually don't SUBSIDISE the customers postage costs, I'll gladly supply you with all your decoying gear for free and you will never have to spend any more of your hard earned money. jonno 357
Weeks in meetings, **** me you must have a lot to talk about and you still can't find a cheaper courier These meetings aren't very productive are they ? Biggest courier service in World 10kgs parcel £6.70 signed for . And thats without weeks in meetings I'm sure I could find a cheaper one if I really tried Jonno
Deako
jonno, Give yourself the 'Businessman of the year' award then. I await your constructive and helpful comments once you've dona better job with the courier companies than I could. Just so you know, its got very little to do with WEIGHT, but lots to do with OVERALL VOLUME and TOTAL NUMBER OF BOXES per consignment. Oh, and also you're gonna need prices for EVERY weight/country in order to do an auto-quote via our website. God, I wish I was as switched on as you... (your free gear awaits)

Deako
Phew! Then we both agree that nobody is making any money on P&P !!!
Will Beasley
I cant understand why so many get upset about the postage charge. Its not THAT high. The other alternative would be to come and collect it and Im betting that the majority of people live further than £12 worth of Petrol away lol Cheers
