mpk
Hi Guys , a friend of mine has a dodgy shoulder its not to bad but gives him jipp every now and again . He wants to start shooting but doesnt know what the easier gun to start with is . I dont feel iv been shooting long enough to give as good advice as you all could, so help would be greatly appreiciated. What would you feel less recoil with in a 12 bore. semi auto, side by side or over and under. I know it seems like a stooopid question but want to give the best advice i can . Cheers all
George1990
More with a side by side as they're lighter. less with O/U, especially if it's heavy. Never used a S/A but I think people say it's the easiest on recoil.
TonySmith
I shot a Benelli SA a few weeks ago,the most 'lack of recoil' gun I have ever fired. ATB Tony
seeker
have a look thro the articles on this site ... Technoid writes quite often on recoil http://www.shotgunreport.com/
stumacher
He needs a semi auto or a heavy o/u. Depends what you shoot as a semi auto may not go down too well on a game shot. But more importantly a gun that fits well as he could always shoot with a lighter load cartridge.

BlaserF3
A gas operated auto spreads the recoil out so you don't get thumped all at once, but I find that a O/U weighing about 8 to 8 1/2 pounds and using 21gm Hull CompX feels about the same and if your gunfit is good, you might be like me and find the recoil less than 24gm fibre fired through my Urika2. Windy
I really dont feel much recoil at all with my Winny Select Sporting. Mind you, I've got fairly beefy shoulders, and have never been bothered by recoil.
Evil Elvis
I broke both my shoulders 8 years ago in a car smash. My first shottie was a bettinsoli and I needed Ibuprofen and paracetamol after every outing, despite using a geltek pad and a gel insert in my jacket.. I was recommended a browning cynergy with its built in inflex recoil system and I have never looked back, yes semi autos are low in recoil and I have shot the benelli mentioned above but I have yet to find a gun with less recoil than the cynergy, and i use 28g carts all day long!!! and dont require any analgesia!!!
