Frenchieboy
Thinking about this, I cleaned the hmr last time I went out, how many shots should I think about putting through it to get it back on song? Is it likely I'll need to adjust the scope after cleaning? Kyska, when I clean the bore of my 17HMR (Which is very rarely, even though I clean the rest of the rifle after each time using it) I find that it only takes about 5 "fouling" shots to bring it back to zero. I don't advise trying to re-zero after cleaning the bore untill you have fired at least 5-10 "fouling" shots through the rifle. Hope this helps you mate! inthedark
"My Remington sps 223 will shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards and thats how it came from the factory,I thought of floating the barrel but as I shoot freehand I dont think I'll gain that much." Wish I could do that. I've seen it done with a .17hmr - well impressive.
Evil Elvis
If i got all shots inside the second ring id be happy, I rarely ever miss a rabbit, or fox but have trouble getting tighter groups as I have a natural hand shake

Mr_Logic
I hardly shoot the rimfire any more, so as long as it goes bang and rabbits die I'm happy with that. My CFs should all shoot 1/2 MOA or better or I get grumpy. Often the conditions aren't ideal so I settle for .75 MOA, but to me a 1-inch group looks a bit big these days, certainly on the target rifles. Both my CZs shoot ridiculously well with the right load. Unfortunately the one the 223 really likes is too hot for it so I get stuck cases and all sorts, but they're pretty much in the same hole with that load. The 'safe' version shoots well but not as well

That's a little silly
townsend819
Dont have a Rimfire or C/F but if my .177 air rifle isnt putting pellet on pellet at 25 yds then I know its me, and 35 - 45yards then 1/2 - 3/4 inch is easily achieved. This all has to be on a very still day as everybody knows, if somebody on the range farts a bit violently then that pellet has just spoilt the group. Bleedin air rifles, thats why you have to practise with them soo much to get wind guestimation right. Will
Mr_Logic
You mean you made a load that was sticky to extract and still fired enough shots with it to know it gave the best groups? That's a little silly That's the thing, was only every now and then, and when I first made that load I had no issues. Originally in the Spring and then issues in the summer so I am thinking just a little warmer in the warm weather. The ones that worked weren't sticky to extract. Perhaps the barrel/crown is not all it should be or perhaps it just doesn't like the ammo you feed it......and ....it's a shooting forum...the group gets tighter every time you talk about it, just like the fish gets bigger every time you talk about it
