Cumbrian
Sorry to revert to this recent topic but if anyone is feeling frustrated by their inability to register on airguns bb, they might like to know that I too have tried to register on numerous occasions, only to be met with the 'disabled' notice. This is really annoying at the moment when I wish to get in touch with a member who seems to have something for sale that I would like. What purpose is served by this 'black out'? Surely fresh blood is essential for any organisation, group , or organism? Many thanks to those who run PW in such a different and enlightened way. bruno22rf
Here Here-PW is a breath of fresh air compared to the 2 airgun forums (BBS + AG/FORUM) who are so far up their own rrrrrs that they seem oblivious to the general shooting public.I had a run in with both forums a while back over a video clip that displayed downright cruelty (and was on view for several months) and was banned from both sites then let back on one (after threatening to pass the clip to the rspca because of the way they were treating me).I was invited back with open arms on both sites once the realistation dawned on them that a legal case might be coming their way-an offer i have declined as i wish no further contact with either nazi outfit. :(
pegasus bridge
you need to make sure that you have the nearest town in your location - my access was stopped because i had 'nottinghamshire' - this upset someone (a mod - not sure which one) - after asking another mod - he said i need to just put the nearest town - hence i put nottingham down (12 miles away) Edited March 8, 2010 by pegasus bridge
Cumbrian
I couldn't even get as far as filling in my details. Interested and sorry to hear of bruno22rf's experiences. Probably not missing much except for my current need. They don't answer emails either. Not very polite or efficient - I'll probably be banned for life for saying that. Axe
As I mentioned on the last BBS topic, they like us have Admin Approval in place. Which means that all new registrations must be approved by an Administrator. However, if they do not have any Administrators available to approve new accounts (for whatever reason albeit holiday, illness, etc.), they prevent people from registering until such time they do have an Administrator available. If you know someone who is a member, perhaps you could ask them to contact the member in question to exchange email addresses perhaps. Otherwise I am afraid you'll just have to wait until access is opened again. The last topic was closed to stop further opinions of the BBS being posted. lasbrisas
I have had several problems aswell, had no problem registering but then couldn't see the for sale page even though I had my town in the system. Then I showed my interest in an item and then the post got deleted, who knows what's going on.
Dekers
As some here may know I have been banned from Airgun BBS. I'm not proud of it and I would still like to be there..yes, really, but I got banned for pointing out the truth, MATHS actually, about energy calculations! A certain person did not like being corrected. Anyway, the best way to change an organisation is from within, I can't do that and unfortunately the censorship and **** licking there is unbelievable. It's a shame just the same, there are a few decent people there and one way or another fragmentation, and or dispute in the shooting community does none of us any favours! Cumbrian
Sorry to hear of all these experiences but at least I seem to be in good company. There's a current topic on the general airguns bb, which anyone can access, about 'whining newbies' on the site. It was started by a Gary C, who styles himself 'Witchfinder General'. There may be some underlying good reason for the complaints being made by Gary C and those who support him but the tone is often unpleasant and off-putting. I think I'll cut my losses. chewy0013
To be honest I'm kinda glad that I cant join, the things i have heard about the site dont really make me want to join. I hate it when people have ago at newbies...although some of the questions they ask/we have all asked are painfully simple and obvious... we all have to learn and that requires asking questions. Is their for sale section as good/better than ours? ATB Stuart

ATB Stuart I don't think you and I are likely to find out! They particularly resent anyone having access to the sales section until they have sent in an indefinite number of posts. I can't imagine that it could be more varied and reasonable than PW's, which covers the whole spectrum of guns and equipment.

Dunkield
Different forums attract different people for different reasons. Some of us like it here others don't, yet again it's "horses for courses" There is a fine line between stating your elegance to PW and slating other forums, the former is all well and good, but please avoid the latter.
