Llandegla

Well, I was in & around the Nth Wales / Chester area for a couple of days, so I thought I'd pop & visit Llandegla shooting ground.

Bloody hell..... windy!!!

very much a DTL ground by the looks of it. the guys who work there were very friendly.

had a play on the sporting compact, then shot 4 sporting stands. did not seem to have much else set up on the sporting front.

was gonna have a round or 2 of skeet, but thought I'd get back on the road & miss the traffic for my 300 mile drive back to sunny kent!

ground is a nice setting, but can see why I've heard it said is a good ground in season/summer - as would be bloody cold in full winter!!! was a milder day today than it had been for the last couple.... but the wind was strong.

it is still for sale so I am led to believe.....

That's funny, they have a 120 bird sporting and a 200 bird FITASC coming up soon :good:

I think it might have been up for sale or rent for quite a while. Still running shoots though.

I think they have facilities there to lay on dozens of sporting or FITASC stands, but unless they're running a comp, they don't seem to bother. If you go there for practice, it's

skeet, DTL or Sportrap, with occasional sporting stands which may or may not work :hmm::P :P

And yes, it gets a bit fresh in winter

Nice ground

Windy? no that was not wind, just a light breeze

yeah, that was what a couple of nice older guys said who were shooting there said!!

there were a couple of stands that had traps in position, but were not set up on their claymate system, so weren't allowed to use. Plus they said there were more stands that they put on for comps, but there was nothing setup for them at present.

nice setting (bar the wind!)...... could do a lot with that place, but I think the weather would play a major part if you were trying to run it as a business! I can only imagine what it is like in the cold, wind AND rain!

even if it is raining, is still quite pleasant shooting somewhere like West Kent Shooting School!!!!

Why is it everyone seems to be amazed that it's wet and windy in Wales :good: - have you ever been there when it isn't :good:? - every time I went up A55 the tide was out - it was raining and cold and this was August - then I got to Anglesea and what trees there were were at an angle of 45deg. - So come on Wales is wet - years ago me and mrs went from Brum to Bar mouth and sat on beach all day in thick fog -- back home in Brum it had been 80 all day - last time I went to Wales.
