bigMac
I am in the market for a semi auto 12guage. I see lots of Hatsan escorts for sale . As one shop is selling them at £295 & £395 new, depending on model etc, I was wondering what standard of quality are they, everyone seems to want to sell them, are they a disaster ? bobt
I like mine, a search on the forum with give hours of reading, mostly posting from people who had a mate, who knew someone who said he had problems.
Imperfection
They're a Marmite gun-you either love em' or loave em'.Mine works faultlessly, puts shot where i want it to be and is a cheap pigeon gun. You've got to remember that being a budget gun,the resale value should you want to sell is never going to be outstanding like a Berreta or Remington perhaps.Search the forum and you'll see they get mentioned a fair bit! Dekers
Seldom in the field of Shotguns, has so much been said, by so many, about one gun/manufacturer!
alexr
My PA hatsan is a lovely wee gun. Very pointable. A bit stiff still, but has only had about 500 rounds through it.
SSS
3 words, use search facility. This has been done to death, many people like them, many people hate them

Shuck.
That's a reason I like this site, people can ask the same question that's been asked hundreds of times before and not get people *shouting* at them to search. On topic, I love my Escort, measured the barrel the other night and its actually about 26', for some reason part of the reciever must be measured to make it 28' (which it says 28' on the box). The short barrel isnt a hinderance though as it keeps its pointability from its adjustable stock thanks to spacers provided.
bicykillgaz
i loved my escort and have always regretted getting rid of it, i px'd it against my rimfire as my ticket came back in 3 weeks!! so i'd not got enough cash saved and the woman at firearms depo said i need a gun on my ticket as soon as or they'd deem i had no need for it and as my other shot gun was worth a lot less the escort went mine only ever jammed on 65mm 28g cartridges but would cycle 67mm 28g so i stuck to 67mm or longer and it worked faultlessly, i think if the magazine spring had been well worn and not forcing half the second cartridge out aswell 65mm's would cycle ok. other than that never had any trouble with it i just kept it clean and lightly oiled and it was great good luck with what ever choice you make though mate atb gary
12borejimbo
I was looking at a benelli, but the escort was half the price, and I go beating with the owner of my local gunshop, so called him up and asked him a few questions, he said they where great, and for what I needed it for it was more beneficial than a benelli, as I only wanted it for rough shooting, foxing on a quad, rabbits, not forgetting pigeons ect, it cos £395 new with 5 chokes and it is spot on, I shoot just as good with it as I do with my keepers benelli super 90 5 shot! and he likes it too which is a bonus, cos he wont take the ****! haha
The Reverend
My Escort was fine, used 24gm up to 34gm with no issues, mine was a 3" jobbie, the 3.5" ones are the ones with all the reported problems.
