Stretch
Hi there, thanks for looking at this post. I'm after advice aswell as gun offers. I'm looking to buy a secondhand semi auto 12 bore within the next few weeks, my head is spinning after looking at so many pics/adverts and i don't know which direction to go in. The gun i fell in love with is the berretta extrema 2 but its way out of my price range at the min. I started looking at new/used hansan escorts and webley semi autos which suited my budget better but i keep hearing that they are both prone to problems i.e. jamming. A local gunshop tried pointing me in the direction of a browning but stange enough the only semi they had was a....................... you guessed it, a browning, so i could'nt take their word for it. My friend has mentioned the winchester sx which is supposed to be a good gun and cheaper than the berretta so should be within budget secondhand. I'm hoping that you may be able to point me in the right direction from you experience. For gun offers, i'm looking for either a black or camo gun, must be good condition with no problems encountered. I live in Walsall, west midlands so it would need to be within reasonable travelling distance away. I'm going away for 10 days early hours wednesday 7th so i will be looking to collect before then or the first wk back. If i can't get online whilst i'm away i won't be able to reply to peoples posts. Thanks again Craig

Thanks again lots of plus and neg remarks about Hatsans, but my m8 has one and had no problems, except i've been told by a gun shop not to buy the 3 1/2 mag ones, get a 3" one Craig
bg55599
i have a hatsan 20 bore, it jammed sometimes but i have worked out why,(if you dont push the cartridges in past the point the sit at in the lower chamber when you load them, they seem to jam occasionaly) for about £350 you can get a new gun with a decent warrenty or there are laods second hand out there. they shoot really well and i have shot better rounds of sporting clays with the auto than i have with my beretta 686 with extended chokes which cost a dam sight more! What you need to think is 1. Waht are you going to use the gun for? if its going to be chucked about and get scraped and knocked then it will devalue any gun. 2. are you planning on keeping it a long time? if your going to keep it for a long time then provided it does the job resale value isnt too much of an issue. If you buy a beretta or something then it may cost you more to buy but you are unlikely to loose any money on it as they hold their value well. But more importantly buy the gun you feel most comfortable with and shoot best with. if you can have a trial with them then that should help you decide. Stretch
Thats a good point actually, i shall only be using it for shooting pigeons (plus other moving creatures) on the field, it is going to be prone to knocks and bumps. Buying a more expensive gun at this point may be a bit pointless, i'm hoping i'll be able to find a gun shop that is open today or get some gun offers so i can so how i feel with them in my hand. Cheers guys
panoma1
My advise...Don't rush in, do your homework and buy the best you can afford (maybe a little more than you can afford!) you gets what you pay for! A lightly used secondhand Benelli, Browning, Beretta, in good condition would be my choice. remember....as well as reliablity issues keep in mind the above guns have a greater resale value. Just my opinion!

Cheers guys Aye don't rush it, best way is to go clay shooting with a bunch of mates so you can try various guns to see which you are most comfortable with. Dekers
Lots of guns to look at here... http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/ Personally, I would suggest you do everything in your power to avoid buying a Hatsan! There are plenty of others here anyway!
