MM
spend a bit of time posting on here and reading the banter that goes on. this will help people get a better measure of you and decide if you are a loon or not. Its the polite thing to do. For all we know, you could have a load of kids locked in your basement. Just a thought like.

You could start off on the clays for practice before moving onto live quarry - good luck.

Cranfield
If you want to seriously shoot pigeons, forget the FAC, get a SGC and a shotgun. Once you have the right equipment, thats the time to start looking for specific help. Don't worry about asking questions as a new member on the Forum, there are lots of helpful people on here. jimmyh1988
dont worry mad MM judges everyone by his standards ie locking kiddies in the basement !!! all depends really i prefer rifles hence why i want my fac but i also would like a sgc but if the only want a shotgun guy then like the guys said get a shottie and to get an fac you have to have someone say that you can shoot on their land and it has to be a fair size unfortunately with gun crime and terror **** i've been told that getting an fac unless your in a gun club is very hard so i'd go with what the guys said and get a shottie but i'll stop rambling now lol and have a

deputy dog
Hi MAd 1. My opinion is get your SGC 1st and if your granted one, then reaproach the farmers in mention and see if they will then let you shoot on their land. If your are lucky enough for permmisions to be granted. Then spend your 1st year keeping them happy and prove to them you are a safe person to be let on their land with out fear of things getting shot which shouldn't be. Then when you put in for your FAC, there shouldn't be any problem getting one or two of them to sign the land rquirement part of the form. But in my experience, holding a SGC for a year seems to cut the red tape surrounding FAC applications in half. One you have proven to your FEO that you are not a mentalist and 2 you gained the trust of the farmers so they would give you the land requirement needed. Opinions may vary about how to go about things. But i done it this way and i was granted my FAC with no problems what so ever. All the best Gareth
HDAV
You can even get bolt action .410 made out out of old .303 rifles! the only one thats knows its a shottie will be you ( and the FEO and RFD) I agree having an SGC shows the landowner you have passed police checks and dont have a murky past. GatGun
Shouldnt be a problem getting land in that area. Youre surrounded by farmland. I know that much of it locally is barley and rape which is maybe why the farmers dont seem too interested when youre using an airgun but keep on knocking and you WILL get some land eventually. Try some areas with paddocks in or horses etc as airguns are the perfect tool for controlling rabbits in such areas. If you decide to go down the sgc route dont think you will suddenly be granted acres of land and the farmers will be welcoming you with open arms. If youve not had any success yet for your airgun its simply because you havent done enough knocking, and i mean that in a genuine manner with no sarcasm etc intended. Hope you get sorted with some land soon
nicelydoesit
i know this guy mad1 and hes ok but wat ive found is im trying to get him into a syndicate but there rules are they wont accept membership without sgc. and to get an sgc he needs this permision to fullfill his good reason for grantation hows a guy supposed to start? :( Edited April 20, 2010 by nicelydoesit

All he needs to do is want to go clay shooting at a local ground. If he visits a couple of times to get the hang of things, the FEO will probably be happier that he at least has some handling experience. Its also common sense.
