Westcountryman
Does anyone around the Wilts/Bristol area use these rounds, specifically in .243 sp? If so, which RFDs stock them? I've called a few with no success.

Tel: 01793 497 455 cheers, Jon. I've asked Tony about these before and he doesn't carry them, and doesn't want to, he does already carry a half decent selection of ammo remember. However, the more that ask, then perhaps the more chance he has of getting some!!
Vince Green
Dealers don't like stocking PP because the profit is less that on other ammunition but I think they are taking a short sighted view. If thats what people want that is what they are going to buy. Making it difficult to get is not going to do their business any good in the long run. My local dealer won't sell it either so I don't have any reason to go there any more and he is losing out on selling me things like cleaning materials etc that I would have bought at the same time. Surely he would have been better off selling me several hundred rounds of ammo a year even if the profit is less. As it is I buy nothing, how is that good for business? Back on track then why am I going to visit both rfd's as I can get everything needed at one

Why pay £23 for 50 wen u could reload for £5 after uve reloaded 1000 rounds u would have saved £360 approx that money would be wat u forked out on a decent reloading press and gear. Phil. At £10 per 20 its not really worth reloading it. Lots of money for equipment and components then lots of time messing about testing loads and getting it right. You can produce better ammo by reloading (sometimes) but you can also produce worse ammunition until you do get it right. then your favourite powder goes out of stock Been there..... Reloading can be very satifying but it can also mean you are always wondering what would happen if I tried a different powder, or a different bullet, or a bit more powder, or a bit less crimp. In the end you can drive yourself nuts. I spent three years experimenting with reloads for my .303. Now I just buy PP and its just as good as my best reloads and its cheaper. I'm still reloading .38/.357 ammo but only till I run out of components. Edited May 5, 2010 by Vince Green

Dekers
Andrew Allwood in Bracknell does them, he even buys the empties back off you as well. http://www.tfsa.co.uk/ He is short of some PRVI stuff himself though, still waiting on a delivery from Kranks, who were waiting on a delivery themselves when I last checked with Andy. He plans to have his own "Phoenix" weekend himself when Bisley has theirs, just that his will be in Bracknell, he is hoping to have good stocks by then, best to give him a call and check what he has, actually essential to call him first! Possibly not a lot in it cost wise with some calibres .223 PRVI about £8 for 20, .243 and .308 PRVI about £10 for 20. Not many can reload these any much less, and PRVI does work pretty well in all my rifles. I can't deny the few reloads I have put through my guns have all been better than any factory ammo I have used though!! Westcountryman
Just a quick update. I called around a few dealers in Bristol. New Avon Arms sell privi, but are out of .243 at the moment. They have to order a lot to make it worth while. So none coming in any time soon. Steve Downs sells privi, but only FMJ in mil calibres for range us. Helpful guy though. Andy Hobbs sells it, but is out of stock at the moment. I don't need any ammo for the next few weeks, so he suggested calling back at the end of the month. Dunkield
So, £20 a box doesn't sound like such a bad asking price for the 200 or so I have in stock after all
