Marcus
May need to get a cleaner in for my Grandfather, whats the going hourly rate in your area? I have called one or two companies and there seems to be a large variation in price. What do you pay?
agusta
£45 for 3-4 hours which seems reasonable (includes the odd bit of ironing).

J@mes
£50 a time. Is she there 10 hours? even as a young bloke I can whip through the housework in about 1hr30, and that is to the missus' standards in either her two bed house or my 3 bed. Love to see the kind of job £50 buys, because I'd want to be able to eat off the floor around the bog and I'd need a "happy ending" before she left too! Cookiemonsterandmerlin.
There two answers really cash in hand eg black money cleaners eg not paying tax etc rate 8 to 10 pound a hour round your part of wales. Or the totally legal option that will be around £12.50 hour and the major diffrents is your not funding and aiding and abetting tax dodgers . And the most inportant part IMO is they will be insured for damages caused if they knock anythink over in your grandad place. The chosse is yours . Kind regards OTH

For that money you get two girls, fully insured, for 2 hours. They start with the cobwebs in the eves and work their way down. Last week we had a new girl who was filling in for one of the usual girls. After they had finished the wife noticed that they had not dusted the tops of the picture frames in the lounge. This week they apologised for not doing a proper job of it. Oh and yes.....I do believe you probably could eat your dinner off the floors. Marcus
Thanks for all the replies. I'd rather use a 'proper' business rather than an individual person on a casual basis for a number of reasons. Firstly I would like to think that a business is more accountable, vetted and trustworthy staff etc someone doing a little extra work in addition to the main job I could live with, but I dont agree handing cash to those who are claiming benefits and working cash in hand (no offense intended - just my opinion) Of the companies I have called, 2 were charging £20ph min 1 hr clean and the 3rd was £10ph. I was planning to go for whoever was priced in the middle, but it seems its £10ph or £20ph..will have to make some more calls and ask around to see if I can get a recommendation off someone. Dr W
I was paying £8.50 per hour to a company (min 2 hours per week) in London, of course none of the girls could really speak English so were probably being paid a pittance. Using a company also means you're covered for insurance (although you'd have to check). £20 per hour is an f'in rip off Edited May 19, 2010 by Dr W

Dr W
If through a company then I guess they're paying the minimum wage to the cleaners say £7 - £8 so even paying ER's NI, their margin and insurance it should only be say £3 an hour on top! I'd also want my balls polishing for £20 per hour
Pepe
It is expensive here. We have a young girl who runs her own company and pay £15 an hour, we had been paying £12 an hour before April, which is a heck of a pay rise. Then again, the wife is happy because she does not have to do all the cleaning which means I can do more shooting.
