WRX Scoob

I am hankering after a WRX Subaru

A ). Am I having a mid life crisis?

B ). Am I entering a world of expensive pain?

1. Yes

2. Probably not, the box standard ones are jap reliable and the scooby warranty is as long as your arm.

I reckon I might give the Forrester turbo jobby a spin when I have enough of the Disco.

If that doesn't do it then I reckon I can get away with the estate WRX version (not quite the full blown mid life crisis).

If you buy, buy brand new or a 1 owner (from a mature 1 owner from new who has looked after it and had it serviced) - no after market kits, chips, gates or whatever.

There has never been a more abused car than the scooby.

There's nothing better than shelling out £££££££'s every month on a car to sit behind old dears on country roads, getting to the pub no quicker than a 1.4 Ford Focus and drinking coke all night waffling on about how big your turbo is and on the rolling road 'it's 8000BHP', after that you can meet other like minded sad sacks at the local Maccy D's and burn in and out of the car park all evening like a 14 year old smackhead celebrating his first hand-job.

Yeah go for it, you might enjoy it

Phil would you advise to avoid the STi as an everyday motor? Are they hideously expensive to run, insure and service ect?

Chard, yes it has shrunk ;) you now need not be too embarrassed of your own apendage

Mung, had a Forrester for a bit, found it er bit uninspiring

Leaves it standing once full turbo kicks in (about 10 seconds) - and 43 mpg if you are careful.

If it's not going to be an STi... get a Civic Type-R

Much more fun!

Is this a joke? type r isnt in the same league, plus they sound **** and have to be nailed everywhere.

Go for the impreza, i have just got another Classic, W reg, few subtle modifications and i cant get enough of driving it ;) Loads of grip, power and the sound is

As with any performance car some have been abused but no need to buy standard with 1 owner. There is a lot of modified imprezas built to a very high standard and well looked after. In fact when i was in the market for one some of the best examples were modified and had no expense spared on them

Good mate of mine had the Evo after the Scoob, now has the RS6. We both think its faster and more practical, sounds as good and looks better. Shame its an Audi, the badge of those who left BMW because Jezza said it was a nobbers car.

Ahem it was a courtesy car

The EVO v WRX debate would rage on eternally i expect

indeed, and most people seem to comment without having driven/owned both. Which after having experience of both i chose the impreza. Its cheaper to service/maintain and sounds better
