Andy H
If you try and bring that back be ready to enjoy the federal hotel for a while they are paranoid about that sort of thing.
steve_b_wales
It will be classed as an explosive, so you will have no chance of bringing it back to the UK. I know a mate who wanted to take some Fireworks (Rockets) to Spain with him to celebrate his 40th birthday, and he was warned that he faced a heavy fine if he did. lineshooter
I shoot Triple 7 a Black powder substitute, in Walmart Orlando four tubs for $100 bargain, I even took a photo of it on the shelf with the price, but you can`t legally bring it back. MM
YES! you can bring black powder back. As long as its been deemed ok with the airline, and you have had the correct paper work filled out, and you have had your background checks done at your cost, and you pay the massive duty on it, and you arrange the special container for it to fly in, and you are prepared to be first at the airport to sort it out, and you are then ready to wait till last on to board, and you have first contacted the correct authorities in the UK, and you have the correct ticket for holding black powder, and you clear it with your FEO, and have informed the US Dpt ATF. Apart from that, you wont really have any bother. Its simple. Saying that though, i brought some once fired .44 mag cases home with me, and never got flashed by the dogs or owt. Thought they could smell even the tiniest traces of gunpowder? Half my clothes must have stunk of it on the way back. never been stopped for having such things as Rifle scopes or related stuff in my bags. Ive also had scopes in my hand luggage, still never a bother.
Floating Chamber
Thank God there were no 'planes in Guy Fawkes' day. Black powder on a 'plane. I don't think so!
b682
It is the transport costs to this little island that makes getting any explosive goods in to the UK so expensive. The ADR Dangerous Goods law for transporting any dangerous goods by road, air,sea rail (have I missed anything?) sets standards (UN) on the classification/type packaging etc required. Take a look at the HSE web site and see what an empire it all is.
