scotland rifles
1 x Avimo 7x42 binos 1 x dpm poncho 1 x shooting mat. and all my field training from serving in the forces Edited August 4, 2010 by scotland rifles
mick miller
I don't have any surplus military gear as all the stuff available appears to be made for skinny dwarfs and I'm lardy giant size. My guess is that all those that stay in the services long enough to mutate from a pre-pubescent pip-squeak into a proper sized man either wear their gear till its knackered or take it with them when they leave? I've always assumed that most of the surplus clothing available is from recruits that fail training, although I'm often wrong in my assumptions. libs
None, becuase I am not in the millitary. I shoot pigeons, the odd magpie, occasional fox and clays. As far as I am aware none of thoese things shoot back.
keg
I am very plump and not just seasonally! but avoid military gear as i have never served and can find plenty of plain green stuff that is good quality at a reasonable price. I do agree that some just wear it as it " looks good", but also see people wearing it for the reason it was invented.... Personal choice is the watchword here. ozzy518
I have loads of military gear and also some non military...The military stuff is cheap hard wearing and does the job. I have used it whilst in the Forces so I know it works. Even my shooting truck is ex military. I even know of a fellow PW member who eats ration packs whilst out shooting..( i do love the dead fly biscuits)
Conygree
To make it clear I'm non military. This is my paradox, if I see a guy wearing dpm - I think 'weirdo' but I wear dpm most of the time when shooting :look: Why spend alot of money on field kit to cross barbed wire fences. I used to make my own climbing jackets tents etc but find modern military kit well designed for field use, most of my shooting is done in an old SAS smock, bush hat ( as I'm the only one wearing one, the keepers know it's me). Boots, I just find combat types the best for field use but try the 'Altberg' range = brill I find there is no magic camo kit that can fool a wild animal but it's good training when my son was in cadets he had the time of his life evading the others. One lad tried to stalk up on him with a wind-up touch. I find it doesn't matter what you are wearing in the country just walking around with a gun upsets a few. scutt
surplus stuff like gaiters and gortex waterproofs why because its cheap .as the most expensive stuff has the same outcome when it tangles with the old barbed wire. Also buy ex german para boots cos have you seen the price of boots now i blame the right to roam for to many wanna be hikers :look: more than wanna be soldiers about.the best bit of ex millitary kit i have is a sankey trailer. Jim Sarakun
I have more Army Surplus gear than Army Surplus Are Us. SII A Land Rover with a Sankey trailer For starters. A fantastic 20x20 canvas, aluminium framed tent and separate dining shelter, with bench and chairs. A proper US. gas powered shower tent, and enough ex military clothing for every type of weather or terrain you could think of, and I have never served in the army. I have set all this kit up in woods, on shooting week ends. I light the surrounding area, with fairy lights from a Royal Navy ship, but I have never served in the Navy. I power it all with an ex council generator, but I have never worked for the council. I sleep on an ex Hospital, folding, lightweight bed, and carry with me on these forays, a comprehensive ex Hospital Medical Kit, but I have never been a Doctor. I watch for game in the dark, with an ex, Russian Arctic Expedition, night vision bino's, that's the two lens jobbie, but I have never been in the Russian Arctic Expedition team. I'm the one who eats the easy to carry, lightweight US Special Forces Ration Packs, but I have never served in the US. Special Forces. Does it really matter what kit you use? I can confirm that all the above kit is the best for the job, and I didn't have to re mortgage to acquire it.
miroku4399
a lot of the stuff i use is issued so if it wears out or gets ruined over to the clothing store or company stores for an exchange
Egg
Army issue denture - 4 upper front teeth knocked out in 1999: same denture in place 21 years on. Thanks RADC. Built to last! Edited November 26, 2010 by Egg
Dr_Scholl
I wear some GI issue boots my dad got off some guy from the 82nd Airborne when he was in Iraq. Very comfortable. The rest of my clothes are just regular camo, mostly real tree. When it comes to guns, I have 2 AR-15's and a Glock 22. Also an Ishapore 2A Enfield in 7.62 NATO. If you can get an Enfield go for it, great shooter and a wonderful piece of history.
