Mungler
Many many years ago, one of the first knives I ever bought was from the bike shop in Brentwood High Street that also did fishing tackle supplies. I reckon I was 12 years old. I bought a knife that had a visible bright light blue ABS plastic non slip handle, a sturdy relatively short blade and came with an ABS plastic sheath that was washable. The blade was rock hard and kept an excellent edge. I didn't fully appreciate what a useful knife it was and I'm afraid it got lost along time ago along the way.... Anyways, I need a couple of knives just like it. In fact I want that knife again but with different coloured handles. So, does anyone know where I can get one or something like it. It needs to have: 1. a fixed and sturdy blade say 5" to 8" (nothing flimsy or floppy) 2. an ABS non slip handle (available in bright colours) 3. a sheath that's plastic and machine washable (something that can clip to a belt) 4. something industrial and cheap so that when I lose it, like all my other good knives I won't cry too much I have tried looking at Nisbets and they do knives like it, but with no sheath. Anything else on ebay is marketed to deer stalkers and as a result the prices are daft. Thanking you verily. Mungler out.
Nial
A bit smaller than you're looking for, I haven't got one but they've been recommended here by a few people..... http://www.bushwear.co.uk/nostyles.php?Pro...amp;ClassID=206 And £4.99 cheap! Nial.
Blunderbuss
I have a Mora Swedish knife that fits your bill almost perfectly. Twelve quid, 6 inch (ish) razor sharp fixed blade. Orange plastic sheath, grippy rubberised plastic handle. I have other much more expensive knives, but this is the one I take out. In the dishwasher after I've finished breasting pigeons or whatever, a couple of licks on the whetstone and its shaving sharp for the next time. I keep meaning to buy a couple more in case I lose it, although it's dayglo orangeness makes that unlikely

Mungler
Blunderbuss - you got a link for that. I'll get one of each and give them both a test. Nicely done and for under a score for the pair.

Colster
Another vote for the Mora, I generally prefer lock knives but the Mora is spot on. Holds an edge really well, mate used it to gralloch a couple of munties and it worked fine for that, including removing the head and feet. For gutting rabbits I find it better than my other fave cheapy, an Opinel as the blade doesn't sweep up as sharply at the end. I need something with a good pronounced "point" to it to get the cut started (as I gut rabbits standing up with the knife pointing downwards). the running man
I got 3 for a tenner,at the phoenix 04 at that knife tent that does the rounds, they are unbeatable for what they are, expendable! I'm still using my first one ! They stay sharp, easy to clean,u don't mind breaking them! I did get my mate the knife enthusiast to sharpen it up. 8 months ago,it went a little dull, but even better now its been done. Its no authentic tanto or fancy kershaw ,but what it lacks in quality it makes up for in sheer usefulness! Good luck,do an update tell us how u liked it. MC
Is the Mora one the one that used to be a frost? If so you won't go wrong with them. I have 2 or 3 kicking around.
Richie10
I remember that bike shop! i've got a mora, great knife. Gralloched Red, Roe and Muntjac with it and breasted pheasants and gutted rabbits with it.

Is the Mora one the one that used to be a frost? Yup

Browning
Anotyher vote for the Mora. Cheap as chips, keeps a good edge and with the dayglo orange colour you don't lose it.
buchangun
I think the bushwear £4.99 knife is one of the best knives I've had and at 10 times cheaper than some i've owned its amazing. The one I have now I planned on changing it every season - 3 years on its still razor sharp and going strong even after regular weekly use. Mungler
http://www.bladetech.co.uk/cgi-bin/knife_store.pl?terms=&ref=Knives&subcat=Fixed Blade Knives&subsubcat=Mora://http://www.bladetech.co.uk/cgi-bin/...;subsubcat=Mora://http://www.bladetech.co.uk/cgi-bin/...;subsubcat=Mora I don't believe it. That Mora knife with the light blue handle is *the* knife I had all those years ago. Nostalga-tastic. PW comes up trumps again.
