steve0146
Just building my kennel in the back yard. Been looking at different types of heating but my next door neighbour uses nothing for his spaniels. Must be freezing during Jan/Feb for them. Or am I being soft? What do the people on here use? Dirty Harry
My dog has a Rayburn! The farm dog, a border collie lives outside all year and has nothing. If you give him a bed or blanket he just drags them out of the kennel. He sleeps on a bit of board. He does have a nice thick coat come the winter and he was ok when the temperature was -13c back in January. I think it just depends what your dog is used to. Doggone
Pig lamp for pups, otherwise shredded paper bed that they can burrow into. They love it. Andy
butcherboy
Got heaters in my kennels but have never switched them on. This year it was down to -16 odd and I found them outside in the run sleeping!!! They pile on top of each other. That include a little bitch that was only 6 months old at the time. I thought, if Cockers can handle that then they are never getting the heater on, unless one has pups!!!
WGD
No heating here, and it was a bit chilly last winter Extra food instead

garyb
Currently building a kennel myself, the dogs have lived inside up to now. Will probably install a heater and see how they get on this winter. Id rather they be warm to be honest.

Blackbart
No heater for them but sleeping compartment has celotex insulation in a double skin all around it.If pups are due i would stick a heat lamp in there but other than that a bit extra food will see them alright. al4x
Ok all you do is line it with kingspan then overlay it with a layer of ply and fix, You can make them a sleeping area with a box thats lined if its easier, its really worth doing as any bed on concrete will not be nice.
