who has heating in their kennel?

My dog has a Rayburn! The farm dog, a border collie lives outside all year and has nothing. If you give him a bed or blanket he just drags them out of the kennel. He sleeps on a bit of board. He does have a nice thick coat come the winter and he was ok when the temperature was -13c back in January. I think it just depends what your dog is used to.

Got heaters in my kennels but have never switched them on.

 

This year it was down to -16 odd and I found them outside in the run sleeping!!! They pile on top of each other. That include a little bitch that was only 6 months old at the time.

 

I thought, if Cockers can handle that then they are never getting the heater on, unless one has pups!!!

Currently building a kennel myself, the dogs have lived inside up to now.

 

Will probably install a heater and see how they get on this winter.

 

Id rather they be warm to be honest.

 

 

line it with kingspan, especially underneath them and vet bed is ideal ontop. personally if it gets that cold I'd relent and let them back in
