In Norfolk the first woodcock come in from mid October onwards , usualy during the the full moon and numbers increase from the end of the month through November and December with a few late commers still arriving in January.

Had the dogs out for a walk earlier and put out my first 2, can't see there being as many this year as last, bumper year i shot close on 20 and if i had of been greedy could have shot at least 3 times as many. Wonderful little bird and great eating too!!!

Good stuff :blush: will be out Friday/Saturday so will see if there's many about! I only had 3 last year...left them as they were all dieing with the bad weather.

 

 

I didn't have many myself last season, maybe 8/10 max ! I never fired another shot after the cold weather ban - even when it was over, I thought the birds had it tough enough.
