hi all went out last night with the 17 to a local small 40 acres farm its mainly grass with cows on. the land is hilly and has thick hedges all around which makes it perfect for rabbits. when we first started to shoot this farm the first night we had 30 rabbits in 3 hour's they where everywhere but now we have thined them out a lot and most of the time bag around 10 per visit.

we have a spot where we sit and wait for the bunnies to pop out but last night it was quieter than usual we sat for about 45 mins without a single glowing eye on show. we also shoot the neigbouring farms and in the distance we could hear a fox calling so thought we would investigate. we walked down to the bank of the river had a flash and bingo fox spotted about 3/400 yards away right in the back of the field lamp off "sqweek time...." lamp on fox closer "...sqweek ..."lamp on two foxes and even closer "sqweek" again lamp on and the fox was about 50 yards away(he must have really legged

it over bang) 1 fox in the bag.. lamp back on ...another fox about 80 yards bang another one down at this point. There was still a fox on the land but ran off from the shots i carryed on sqweeking for 10-15 min and out he came i took a distance shot with him he was aware somthing was wrong and would not come in and that was the third in the bag. so what was ment to be a rabbit night turned into a bit of a fox sesh 3 in less than 20 min still mannage 5 rabbits some will live to fight another day .. thanks did i mention it was ******* cold

nice work buddy :good:??? i would rather shoot 3 foxes than 10 bunnies any day but were just not see,ing foxes up here at the moment :yes:

same hear !! not sure where these ones come from the land they where on is not new to me been on it a while and aint seen any foxes on it for some time due to me clearing them off. if you see my posts i shot a massive dog fox of this farm last winter i think it was because of the high volume of rabbits that where there

I downloaded some rabbit in distress call from the internet MP3's and recorded them onto a Battery opperated Dictaphone- works very well as the sounds are a true representation of Rabbits in distress

here- just scroll down the page to the speaker symbols -lots to choose from http://varmintal.com/ahunt.htm

Les :good:

I had a night just like yours on Weds, Nothing on tv - apart from footie, which i can't stand. Thought i'd have a walk around, to be honest i didn't expect much as it was a crystal clear night and really cold. No bunnies, but i did see a fox in the nv around 400yds. I called it in with one of those widget calls and was amazed at how fast it came in. i shot it at around 54 paced yards. It was the bigest dog fox i've ever seen. Clean shot between the eyes. The hmr is a devistating round if used at sensble ranges.

No rabbits though!
