well been looking at this section for a while and been meaning to post my shooting wagon on here but just haven't had the time so now that I have here goes :good:

well as you can see this landy has been lifted 2" as freelanders have rubish ground clearance I have also put larger tyres nobbly on her which all in all gives the FL an extra 4" great for off road

luckily this FL comes with a twin sunroofs so I bought a spare sunroof and mounted a speaker and a light on one for when I'm shooting and I can take that one off and replace it with another without the light etc on top

the speaker is wired up to a amplified P.A. system which I can plug an mp3 player into it and play all my quarry sounds through it and also a mic if i fancy it to shout at people that shouldn't be on the land that I shoot on lol :good:

here is a picture of her just after the lift kit was fitted and the first test drive was completed

and last but not least the last edition was some checker plating just to finnish the look off

this is to protect the sump and yes it does work a great addition in fact its a must

I have also removed the rear seats so everything can fit in I plan to have a secure box made up for the shotguns etc made up for the rear and I have a large plastic drum which has been cut in half for quarry

I like that, looks really good. I was thinking of getting one too, will have to look into it a bit more after seeing yours

a bit of advice mine is the 1.8 k series engine total rubish they have a really bad reputation with regards to the head gasket and yes they do live up to it also a little under powered but the only good point is that it's very quiet

but my advice would be go for a diesel also get one like mine the rear roof comes off great fun whilst off road shooting in the summer :good:

Nice looking landy  ,my mate has one (ash w,off here),he has just put gg at2 235/70/16 and it is more than capable, but does need more ground clearance,he has already hit exhaust which stopped it rattling  ,the best engine is 2.5 diesel  ,still prefer my frontera and am not jealous at all

Thanks for that, I was thinking about the diesel as I had heard the 1.8k series had a few problems... there is a guy down the road from me selling one on an R plate but I haven't had a look at it yet but its the estate version... will have to see what he is looking for for it.

I had the 2.5 diesal but mine was the sport model..again back rook came off also good if you want stand on the back and shoot rifle of the roof static of course..only prob i had with mine was with it being sport 17 inch or were they 18 inch alloys you couldnt get any off road tyres to fit.

Now though i have a disco 3 press a switch and it raises..but still miss not being able to shoot from roof..too high im a short *** as it is..

They're not really bad off road. Still better than a daihatsu or suzuki or whatever. It's a Land Rover afterall (kind of anyway).

I'd place money on it not being better than a similarly equipped fourtrak, had they still made them and if the tin worm wasn't as bad on them they would have sold a lot more here. You've only got to look at how many were used on stock farms in Wales and the likes to see how good they are. that said looks a tidy motor and realistically there is little need for hard core off roading on most farms as create too much mess and you won't keep the permission long.

as long as you are sensible the tyres really dont leave a mess a lot of my permission are on hilly and very uneven terrain including tracks with really deep ruts so this was a must as before my farmers were more put out having to tow me out than making a mess :santa:

drop the lower tailgate and close the upper one - little platform for you to stand on and rest the rifle on the roof!

lower tailgate will hold 200KG so no problems there!

thanks guys

just had a few problems with the old girl the manifold has been leeking for sometime and thought it might be time to change it as the rear box hanger broke too so had a snoop around and the best price for a exhaust maini was around £175 and the rear box was £50 so I thought before i shell out lets see if i could do a repair job, well my in fact I couldn't do any repair job! but i know a man that can

so we set about removing the mani and tried to patch up the holes that had apeared well it was useless as the mani is made up of two different steels one of which is mild steel which when you try to conventionally weld it burns staright through so i went down to my local engineers 40 mins later and £20 lighter they had wrapped a piece of stainless steel thick enough to withstand a direct hit from a .308 welded it up and hey presato better than new :good: now for the rear silencer i thought about what one of you guys had said earlier in the thread and thought lets remove the rear silencer all together and see what difference in sound it would make well to be truthfull not that much so my man that can cut a nice piece off both ends of the silencer welded then both together and made a new hanger and hey presto once again £0 and a very cheap fix and more ground clearance at the rear so all in all been a very good day apart from the bloody cold :good::good:
