libs
17 weeks!!! What are they doing-engraving your certificate in stone? Waiting for the stone to form then quarry it by hand too! That takes the urine a tad, did the give a reason? Have they got to contact your GP etc? They really can't blame that on christmas.
TJ91
when i first applied for my shotgun certificate i got told it could take up to 12weeks it dropped through my letter box 3weeks later so keep your fingers crossed, it may not be as long as you think it should definatly not be 17weeks
CZ550Kevlar
Maybe 2-3 weeks added for christmas due to shutdowns etc, then maybe 4 - 6 weeks which is an average for the full process so i would say 2 - 2 1/2 months tops from initial posting. I would think it will be through sooner, all firearms offices quote outrageous time scales as a worst case scenario, i think it`s so we are happier and more kiss *** when they turn up early. Imperfection
Have they got to contact your GP etc? Even so,but at 17 weeks they must be using either semaphore or Royal Mail...

throbbingfinger
West Sussex took about two weeks. I got told it would be 6 weeks as they are really busy. All people I dealt with along the way were great.
oldspot
The trouble is we give them so much tea, coffee, cake venison etc so they end up working half days and then dozing in laybys all afternoon Seriously Gloucestershire are fairly sensible on the whole. streaky
after having a chat the chap at throckmorton shooting ground he tells me that the Firearms officer has been of for a weeks after an operation and as such has caused a bit of a back log. However he did say that the chap shoots with him so he would put in a word if it starts to take too long. lets hope they were just over estimating it
