Wonder if the Cat will come along..... :yp:

I probably won't bother.. clays for me are as dull as dishwater - but each to their own :good:

Should anyone fancy a Herts range day (Bisley etc) then let me know ;)

I doubt it, unless they are offering huge cash prizes.

its actually a good little ground set in a valley occasional rabbit trap and is reasonably testing, one of the less boring ones about. Most of the local keepers give it a go so it can't be that bad  I may pop back for it but will depend how many days shooting I've had that week what with it being the end of the season and a few cock days to do

Yup. Most targets were 35+ yards and a good mix. Shooting down on the rabbit in the valley followed with a low crosser was a good test, wasn't it Ben.... :P Plenty of the syndicate shots and keepers were there this weekend. And it's not just about the shooting, is it :good:

I've done my share of these "fun" shoots over the years, they're a good way for newbies to gain experience and move up to the next level, and as the current County Champion I really ought to support our fellow Herts shooters by going along.

I can't make the 6th though, already got other plans.

Shoot well guys. :good:

Get a safety plug from MC £5.00 posted I think. More visable than a Flag and well worth the money.

have we decided on a day and venue yet?

Job done, just got one from direct shooting supplies online £8.99

I will be the man with all the gear and no idea

thats probably the Redcoats shoot run by pretty much the same people, you were under a mile from where they set the clays up

Wouldn't have been Redcoats I don't think. They shoot on alternate Wednesdays, tomorrow is the next so wouldn't have been last week - especially not a Thursday. They only have the one drive that far up I think, and you wouldn't have seen the guns from the road. I think Thursdays are Mannings shoot...but could be wrong as I didn't think he went up there.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just a bump to remind all interested that the Almshoe Shoot will be going ahead on Sunday. It'll be an extra hard day if this wind keeps up (just getting the excuses in first)...

If you've not been before, jolly good shoot - well layed out. It's nice and safe, plus there are bacon sarnies, tea and coffee on site. Probably a 50/60 bird sporting (£12ish) and starts at 10. Good local pubs for drinkies after...

Almshoebury Farm. White Lane, St Ippollitts, Hitchin, SG4.

Map here;

IGNORE SATNAVS THAT TAKE YOU ANY OTHER WAY (unless you want to be charged...)

There will be a couple of us on here going so give us a shout if you wanna join the 'squad'.

Apparently somebody turned up after we had gone on Sunday. Apologies whoever it was that came from Cambridge. I hope you enjoyed the shoot - you're lucky, you had the main man as your trapper!

This weekend - short notice.

13th February - Maulden Gun Club

I'd imagine this is a 10:00am start!
