chrispti
Myself and Mudpatten had a day out decoying over a rape field today. A few birds about, still in small groups down here. It went pretty quiet just before lunch time and we only managed a couple between then and 15.30. We finished up with 29, could have had a few more but Im pretty sure some of them have been feeding on kevlar  Still, it was nice to be out

All the birds that came in decoyed very well, quite allot of young birds though. I will be going on the 2nd

Mightymariner
First day out today in about three weeks, I had planned a place to go but changed after a call from a farmer friend who had seen hundreds on rape just over his boundary, but were sitting in his trees in between feeds. Headed there instead, though I did think it wouldn't bear fruit but I like the farmer and it would be good to catch up with him. Anyway, as predicted there were several hundred feeding on the rape, and plenty came to the ashes where I was set up but only managed four. Unfortunately, I couldn't set up close to the ash trees as a main road runs within feet. Still, enjoyed the shots I had and it was good to get out in the fresh air. Snow forecast at the end of this week so I will see what that brings..
Greenhunter
I went out for a couple of hours this afternoon after a phone call from the farmer at lunch-time. 30 or 40 on the rape he says, so went for a reccy with the plan to go on Thursday early. I have to say that its the first time I have known a farmer not to exaggerate..there were actually about 200 on his rape field. I sat and watched them for a while. They were sitting in a strip of woodland which runs alongside the field before dropping in so I decided to stand in there for the last hour. Only managed 4 for 6 shots but they were all well up so I am well pleased. The new Maxus might yet have a secure future in South Cheshire. Well done on your 29 Chris. Not sure what Thursday will bring for me. The birds seem to be flocking up already here so it could be difficult to get amongst them.
