seeker
You're certainly getting your ducks in a row ...! I was chatting to a friend whose daughter cycles - big time ... she has a coach for her cycling, training and fitness but she also goes to specialist race winning coaches' for the "edge" in the competition. Made sense, so consider a good coach/ gunfitter/ trainer who can get everything sorted and a specialist coach who's been there, is getting the medals and can give you an edge on the day. Why not take the best in both fields? Any old coach might be just that.
100milesaway
From where you live i would give the owner of Grimsthorpe a call. As he owns the ground he could most likely take you on a day when the ground is shut, he used to do a tuition column in sporting gun and is an excellent coach. from Auntie
P~MX
Big Ben as a coach will be hard to beat for Fitasc lessons, he's a fantastic shot, I've watched him many times and he just never looks like missing, the other big name in the coaching world of clay shooting is George Digweed, they both have web sites for contact for bookings etc. The question would be ~~ are You ready for lessons at that level ? (no disrespect) but they don't come cheap even for the day ! good luck and please let us know how you get on ? f3

P~MX
Trigg just check Ben's hourly rates ~ I think he's more like £300 per half day, I could be wrong -- I hope for your sake I am, I've the Carl Bloxham is a Superb coach - second to none and he's Very reasonable too, you'll find some of the top coaches will only teach you their way which is not always the best way for you, I've heard Carl Bloxham will teach you whats best for you. f3

MC
One thing I would say is just because they are a good shot doesn't mean they are a good coach. There is one in my area who was a World champion but as a coach he is next to useless. We can all stand behind someone and say you are behind it. Not everyone can see what you are doing wrong. Also do you really need a half day? after several hours of tuition and lots of shooting are you going to be able to take anything in? I would say that 4 1 hour lessons with a good coach is far better than 1/2 a day and a few hundred cartridges.

From hearing good things about carl bloxham i will be having a days tuition with him next year. It will take me around 4 hours to get to him. tigger
I appreciate peoples thoughts and comments and pm's and after some thought have decided that Ben may not be the person for me , my thinking that the best shooter must make the best coach is clearly not correct but we all learn and atleast its not cost me anything either im waiting for a call from Mark Russell at Grimsthorpe SG he has come highly recommended by many people so seems favorite at the moment ATB
