Tebay Services are great and so is the butcher's shop now open.

If you want a real treat and have won the lottery, L'Enclume at CARTMEL is utterly brilliant - Michelin star - and you can also stay the night. The chef/owner is Simon Rogan an he also has a less expensive bistro called Rogans. In fact Cartmel is becoming a bit of a foodie destination with a cheese shop and a bakery just opened there.

Sorry this info is a bit late for the trip to Scotland for the New Year but maybe next time?
