big bad lindz
Hi All, I have read about late processing of renewals on various posts but I am going to find myself in a bit of a pickle soon. My certificate is due for renewal early in January. My paperwork was sent in at the end of October as requested, the cheque was cashed in early December but I have still to have my visit. As I work offshore I informed Northern Constabulary of dates that I would be available for a visit. As I will be going to visit family down in Glasgow in the first week of the New Year, I am very unlikely to have a visit before the weekend and if I did how long to finish the processing. Has anyone had a similar problem? I am concerned that I may end up not having a current certificate to own a shotgun through no fault of my own. Can I still be in possession of a shotgun and attend shoots or go on the foreshore without one. I think the answer is no! Any thoughts or views. I have contacted the firearms department by email but as yet I have had no reply. Cheers, BBL
markbivvy
If you think the FLD are going to be late granting your renewal get in touch with them and tell them if that is the case could they issue you with a temporary ticket. VicW
I think the temporary certificate is called a 'section 7'.You have put your renewal in in good time so it's down to the your firearms licensing office to ensure that you are covered. As Mark said you wiil have to talk to them. Vic.
mcw65
when mine was late the FLO said no problem its in the system but you will have to get some one else to buy your cartridges.
Redgum
I renewed my shotgun cert this year, had the renewal pack a month before expirey and promply sent it all off with completed form, cheque cashed etc but had an over lap of a month with no license. I spoke to the FEO just before the old license expired and he told me just to make sure I had plenty of cartridges and not to worry as they were aware of the backlog. Dekers
I get a tad confused (******g annoyed) about all this, my last renewal went in well ahead of time, yet my region really dragged their heels. I contacted them several times to check and about a week before my co terminus was actually going to expire I checked yet again and was told not to worry...B******t, it's alright for you guys, I'm the one with a Cabinet full of tools, no ticket and all the explaining to do! Can I have a Temporary Cert then, OK if you must, well, no, I actually want my proper certs and if you had got your finger out of your **** I would have had them weeks ago, but I will definitely have the temp certs until you do! RC45
I am waiting for Northants, even though I was told I should have it back before Christmas. Now I am supposed to shoot at a clube I don't visit very often and they like to see a licence unless your regular. I might give them a ring tomorrow. apache
Do you have a FAC or just a SGC? Might be best if just shotguns if you transferred them to a mate's ticket? Or get a section 7 temporary cert.
wymberley
Hi, Devon here. My renewal bumph arrived as usual 3 months in advance and promptly actioned by myself and the FEO. Finally got them several days late but, I suspect, only because I rang the HQ. I had previously rang the FEO (who has an outstation office away from the HQ) who said don't worry, it's not your problem, don't bother doing anything about it, the whole system is in chaos! The point I really wanted to make though, is that if you look at the locations of the Posts, this situation appears to be pretty much nation-wide.
