Fair afternoon on the on jam packed woodies

Recommended Posts

After taken the dogs out this morning in the hissing rain I did not hold much hope for shooting.

Started on some well chompped OSR to no avail so popped home for a brew and bite to eat and then tried my luck on some linseed stubble under a well used flightline.

Didnt get there to 1400hrs setup up the whirly and 30 deeks it was now bright sunshine awful could not see a thing.

But the birds showed a little intrest some dropping lower and giving a fighting chance of a shot or two.

They where driffting back from a large OSR some miles away I could see them lift and drop back down again.

As the evening closed in the shooting got hotter and hotter with birds still deeking at 1615 hrs packed up with 52 in the bag.

Most jam packed with rape but some still finding beechmast.

Farmer had some for his pot.

Cheers OTH

Well done OTH. I went out to have a look at some rape fields, same story as you up to 2pm and decided it wasn't a pigeon shooting day :lol:

I am lucky I have alot of backup ground thats unkeepered so I have total access to crops woods si I would be unlucky not to find birds somewhere.

Also I think you have to start to adjust to slighty longer days there feeding harder at 2 PM than a 2 weeks ago later start times is the answer me thinks.

Cheers OTH
