Cranfield
I went looking this morning, saw very little, but did set up on a short cropped piece of rape, having been conned by the 12 birds I walked off the field. A nice sun tan, three hours and no shots later, I packed up. I had a tour round with the windows open, but I saw nothing and didn,t hear any shots. There was very little wind, but it had quite a chill in it. We are supposed to be getting cloudier weather next week, but the winds are still going to be light. I,m finding it hard. I think I will have to move home, but to where ? Anything around your way ? If so, what are the house prices like ?
Catamong
A few on the rape near me, but quite a number are scoffing the beech and ash buds just starting to show on the nearby trees... pigeons are by nature pretty lazy birds and if a ready meal is available close by, then they won't bother to flight to the nearby pea fields, where they could get shot up...!!! red_stag88
I went out doing rabbits yesterday and saw lots pigeons, i was walking through a field full of valleys, it was a sheep field and packed full of lambs. All the birde were out of range but they were flying all over me! if i only had my shot gun.... On the way back i go through a different farm which is infested with bunnies and shot a bl**dy big one, i wasnt trying had though as it was late and my supper was on the table I am hoping to go out roost shooting soon. I would have gone out rabbit stalking today but had to lay bricks for our new chiller house. I am afraid that house prices are quite high here, the last house bought was bough by lottory jackpot winners

red_stag88
Well done if you have, there may be one vacant house....... The lottery thing was just to show how pricy the houses are. My parents bought ours for £32,000 (it was cheap, even for the times) but is now valued at (wait for it) £300,000 ish B)

supergame
Shot on a bean field with the beans starting to germinate. Birds have been going on the field for the last three days. I shot this field twice before and then the birds moved on. Following a heavy shower earlier in the week, revealing more beans the birds returned. I set up at 2.00pm with my back to the wood with the wind in my face ( what little there was ), this being the only safe place. As I thought the birds came from behind providing very difficult shooting. Some birds decoyed well others ignored them. I finished the day at 7pm with 30 in the bag. Not bad, but had the birds come from in front I should think I could have doubled the bag. The majority of birds were shot in the last two hours. everygoodnamewastaken
I was out sunday, got 34 pigeons 5 crows and a magpie. I shot a feral with my airgun (first confirmed kill) and a crow and the magpie. That was for about 75 carts, not bad shooting i'd say! Had a great day and pulled of 2 really far out shots one of which took about have of the trees branches off and still killed the bird which was about 50 yards out ( I know i shouldnt have fired that far out but i didnt mean it, instinct seemed to kick in) Found a roost wood on the farm so im going to get carts today and have a go on wednesday. Mr farmer was well chuffed He likes his pigeon pie! we were shooting over barley which was up about 1 inch had about 30 deeks and couldnt be bothered taking the whirligig (didnt seem to matter) Got there at 11 and left when we ran outa carts at 5 ish B) truly a great day! Oh and i got my first right and left , well up and down i supose
