Jon-Boy
Hi chaps, thinking of going in for my FAC, i have attached a pic of my shoot. Do you guys think this land will get proved by the local FLO? Cheers Edited February 24, 2006 by Jon-Boy
Jon-Boy
I know the train track could prove a problem but, its not as though i wont be able to hear it coming. Plus the land slopes up toward the top of the shoot meaning missed shots (me miss, never....!!!) will simply stop at the ground.
deadeye ive
I have a permission that is only 27 acres and is passed for .223...........As it's your initial application don't over cook the request for guns / calibres ...........You can always apply for variations at a later date after gaining more experience . Stick to 1 .22LR for starters is my reccomendation ..........or as a NOISY but more predictable alternative .17HMR Ive
markbivvy
looks a little to flat to me. i have one of over a 1000 acres that is shotgun only, if you as you say have better land i would try that, submitting dangerous land will reflect on you. have another look at it from the flo,s point of view. can you see any danger. missed shots (me miss, never....!!!) will simply stop at the ground. not allways mate. Hunter
If you can, build a highseat. This will help if the grounds are too flat, but you must use it.. otherwise if theres an accident, and you could not explain why you were not using it.. oops.. Jon-Boy
the land is flat but it is on a gradient, there for there is a definate slope which will catch missed shots, also some of the boundry is covered with high earth mounds (5-6ft) and all is surrounded by trees.. Hunter
Remember that even shots fired at the target (fox, rabbit, deer) will sometimes penetrate cleanly through, and continue there dangerous path.. sometimes at a different angle. If you shoot a fox on flat land, the bullet could be point in an slight upwards arc after impact.

Jon-Boy
Hopefully there are enough backstops etc, most bunny's sit alongside the earth mounds as thats where their warrens are. What ya think chaps, suitable for rimmy or not?
Hunter
Jon, no one can can say becuase you havent shown us enough info.. But Id say just go for it... if it works out, then its a job done Edit: Didnt see all the pictures! Should be ok for FAC airgun, .22 rim, or if not ask for a .17 as the bullets tend to break into many tiny bits when they hit something, so they are a lot less of a ricochet hazard. Axe
Seems fine but remember the .22LR will skip off at shallow angles, when the ground gets hard in the summer months. So make sure you are shooting within the tolarence of the back stops.

Paul in North Lincs.
Its a nice little shoot, but I think you may struggle to get FAC especially with the train track and roads nearby. Naturally the FAO ultimate directive will be for the safety of others, and from a risk assessment point of view it could prove problematic. Dave-G
Well if the feo wont pass it for rimmie they will certainly do it for FAC air - dont dismiss this as useless - I'm about to get one myself for a couple of permissions where I think a rimmie is risky. I currently shoot one of those locations after midnight. The other is yet to be viewed.
deadeye ive
Its a nice little shoot, but I think you may struggle to get FAC especially with the train track and roads nearby. Then just go for the FAC Air rifle which if your application is refused for the reasons mentioned it won't be a problem ............Still gets you on the fac ladder with the option for applying for variations at a later date Ive

Frank
bogs are very dangerous things, or water logged grass. This is very true as i regularily shoot targets at my local bog. I find a good peat bank, 20 ft high, where the bullets can go into and raised bogs behind that strech out for 3 miles .
Dave-G
I've - I've had a deal in the offing for a swap of an RC helicopter for a rapid mk1 FAC currently set at 26lb. Only thing is, it's the sellers RFD that may want the heli - but I cant seem to contact the seller on the BBS site at the moment. There's no immediate rush - I still have my 12lb AAs410 carbine.
