Semi - Black synthetic or camouflage stock?

I'm looking to buy a new Benelli M2 for pigeon shooting and was wondering if I should go for the camouflage stock or the standard black. It will only be used in the field so not worried about turning up at a clay shoot with it but does it make much difference with the pigeons?

Just a bit worried that if I decide to sell it on in years to come it will have a limited market appeal to people & the trade-in will suffer if I go for the camouflage.

Any opinions?

Pete

personal preference

the camo guns seem to wear and end up showing the white undercoat :/

when i was looking for another semi auto 'work' gun

i chose hatsan as they are cheap and do the job, i went for black, look alot better in my opinion and the pigeons/bunnys/duck etc dont care

i arent saying they all do it, maybe the gun in question wont, but i have heard a couple reports of the camo finish wearing and white showing on a hatsan, a webley 812 (i think it was 812) and an sx3...all cheaper guns than the 1 you are looking at but i guess they will all be finished in the same way :/:hmm:

I went for camo, doesnt stand out as much when flighting, nothing more odd than not being able to see the person, but you can see a pure black arrow straight thing pointing at the sky! Also usefull when you cant be bothered to build a hide for pigeons etc and are just blending into the hedgerows etc.

I guess it's horses for courses really. Each to their own.

i very rarely use a hide and have never had aproblem

its movement that spooks incoming/passing birds

a black 'stick' pointing in the sky wont bother a pigeon unless its waving about...but a camo stick waving about would spook them!

the only time the gun should move is when being mounted and swinging through the bird... this movement from either camo or black gun will alert the bird, but by then it should be too late as you have pulled trigger

plenty use black o/u's with shiny silver bits and have no problems

get an orange gun..stay still, no problems :good:

i had a camo semi and it looked great, but when i put it down on the ground to chase after a wounded pigeon it took me best part of 1/2 hour to find the bloody thing, also on same day we had packed all the kit away and my mate went to fetch the truck and ran straight over my gun...saying he didnt see it.luckily no damage done but sold straight away

If you fancy camo, get camo.

I have one and don't regret it 'cause it's what I wanted.

To each their own.

Resale isn't an issue, plenty advertised and plenty sold.

Good Luck :good:

I've never "lost" mine and I've never left it on the ground to get runover :lol:

Black if you can.

i have had both and found, as already stated, that the camo rubs off and chips in time. the black is just black and i wash mine in the kitchen sink. hehe. then an oiling and we are done.

one other thing with the camo ones is that you cant see any scratches or rust as there easy over looked.

best auto ive had.got through a few inc, beretta and benelli and find the maxus tops them all.fits me great and handles a treat.i use it mainly for pigeon and find the speed load just the job in the confines of a hide.also use it for wildfowling.cracking gun.think ive finally found my ideal semi..

i bought the hatsan escort semi auto 3 shot in black synthetic, and after i bought it, i decided i wanted the camo escort, so all i did was just buy the realtree apg camo gun sock, then that way you have a choice of what to go for on the day, and also it helps to protect your gun from scratches. you can pick a gun sock up for £8 9 quid.
