Topgunners
Hi all. Just as we thought it was going to be a miserable weekend up pops "Joe Luck" and we have a cracker. I went out yesterday for a recce on our patch and after 4 hours driving around I found some pigeons feeding on the rape. Set up a magnet and 20 deeks and after 1hr or so packed up for only 7 pigeons & a jacky. Very cold. Today I am out 7.00am after dropping the missus off to work and goes on the "patch run" yet again.. 2 hours later, NOWT. Meets up with Al & Ag and we try some of our distant patch and see a few flitting here & there and just as we are resigned to go and do some spinney flushing we spotted hundreds on some new "DRILLING". (Spring Beans) Not our permisiion, but undetered I left my hoppo's to sit & watch and then goes off "Door knocking" to try and find the landowner. Half an hour later and a number of farms & houses "Knocked" I returned with the very grateful permission to shoot the land and we set up in 2 areas of the field and ended up with 132 pigeons for just short of 7 boxes of cartridges(175). PERSEVERE and you will be rewarded. It's nice when it all comes together. Dave K p.s. just 4 you NTTF, Al shot 2 on the floor. SITTING & TIED DOWN. Catamong
Topgunners, A good bag with a good kills / cartridge ratio to boot. It also goes to prove you don't need snail mail to get quality Pigeon shooting..!! You need to time it just right on Beans, as they're usually only on it for a couple of days at most. Cat. Cat. yo CAT You are dead right. the farmer only planted the beans on Friday and once the loose ones have been mopped up i'm pretty sure the field will be barren of birds by next weekend.
