Salop Matt
Okay folks, Me and the Mrs are starting to plan our wedding. But want it to be enjoyed and optimised and have people enjoy the things we pay for. I personally like the idea of a Ceilidh and caller to get everyone on there feet ! Reason being I hate it when you go to a wedding and a DJ is put on and within 10 mins of the first dance everyone is sat back down and only drunk old uncle Jim is on the dance floor strutting his funky stuff ! This way everyone is new to it and all able to have a laugh :-D I am also thinking of branded wooden place names for seating ! Cheap but novel ! Any other ideas would be great ! Muggins.
What have i enjoyed? Getting rid of the coniving little bitch!!! On a more serious note. Having too much time between reception and the evening do can spoil some peoples enjoyment as sometimes they have no where to go for that time.(Especially if they have travelled to be there) Keep things simple, it`s your big day as well you know!! muggins. pegleg31
the girlfriends cousins reception was fancy dress which i thought would be rubbish but really enjoyed it .they also had a bucking bronco which was really funny the later the night went on and a pig roast
happypig
we had embarassing photos of all the guests stolen/ pimped off the computer for use as place settings...... no seating plan ..... just let all the guests find themselves and laugh at everyone else. broke the ice for those seated together............. pig

Mungler
I personally like the idea of a Ceilidh and caller to get everyone on there feet ! The reason that no one dances is because: 1. they don't want to 2. they are not drunk enough to want to Having some sweaty *tell you* to get up and have a dance, well that's just fighting talk. Put the money you would have spent on a Ceilidh behind the bar, and everyone will be dancing by the end of the evening.
HDAV
Get a good DJ that can read the crowd not just a fat bloke with a van filled with **** lights and a dodgy PA, Covers bands go down well especially if they can play a good mix of classic stuff and modern. The choreographed first dance is also becoming popular. Simple answer is invite more fit young birds and less old folk and dancefloor will be full invite lots of old people and it wont for long! Thats the difference between a Celtic wedding and many a foreign wedding- nae atmosphere/mingling etc etc. Folk staring into space, no being able to hear a word coz Dizzee Rascals belting out at full blast. Go for a Ceilidh; sure some bigotted muppets wont join in the fun but the majority will. A great way for old and young and guests who dont know each other to mingle and have a laugh. This way everyone is new to it and all able to have a laugh :-D Best idea, but then I am biased and I'm sure you'd get Mrs Sweepy's vote on that. You are also in the best place round Telford for a couple of cracking bands with one or two stunning callers. D

Yellow Bear
Comon yellow bera name some names ! Ceilidhography (had a young lass calling last time I heard them) and All Blacked up normally with Baz Parkes calling :good: . Neither are cheap but you get what you pay for, and if you are feeling flush book Dave Hunt to call with either, you'll not be disappointed  :good: . For these and others website "webfeet" has contact details. Nuff said
retromlc
our reception was in one room, that way no one can wander off and the place thins out too much,we had a DJ with a list of music he could only play AND a list of NOT to play e.b AGADO at the end or something dire like that. not to many chairs either, people mingle more that way.at about 11p.m at one wedding they brought out some juicy sausages and French stick, which was very popular, and probably reasonably priced to do. short speechs is a must as people get bored. Get everyone drunk
yanibaby
Some friends of mine had a photo booth at their wedding reception, like the ones you have your passport pictures taken in... It comes with a few fancy dress outfits, hats, wigs, novelty glasses etc for your guests to dress up for the photos. It's was so much fun, most of the guests were drunk obviously, and cramming in to the small booth - everyone really enjoyed it, and the bride and groom were left with hundreds of fantastic photos! It was about £500 to hire, with the printing of all the photos (as many as you like) included in the price.
