BerettaSV10
I bought one 30" m/c version, just before the vat increase, and its a lovely gun. The only prob I have not been able to get out and try it, well worth the money. Normally with game guns you are better off using light load caridges to reduce the recoil effect when shooting clays, but as I not used it yet can't comment on what its like on clays. Hi Paul what are the differences between a I and III? price too! Cheers Duncan
BerettaSV10
Apart from the price, I think the only differance is in the quality of the stock wood and the engraving. Edited March 5, 2011 by BerettaSV10
fireshot
I`v seen it in the sporting gun but have been told that it`s a manual safty catch and some say auto ??, but do I get the Field or sporter now which is best for both. Dr_T
I bought the field version of a Silver Pigeon III for both clays and game/pigeon shooting. Then again I'm tall and well built so don't mind the recoil when shooting a number of clays. The safety on the Field version is auto and resets each time the gun is broken. Shropshire_Lad
Hi Paul what are the differences between a I and III? price too! Cheers Duncan Hi Duncan, as said just the wood upgrade and egraving. I'm a sucker for a nice stock but the extra £3/400 takes some parting with! The new sporter would mean I could keep my sxs and buy this for the same money, now if I could only drop on a left hand one with upgraded wood for no exra! Lol atvb Paul. Richard.Hosgood
I've just bought a silver pigeon 1, take delivery of it later in the week as the only one Ladds had had marks on the stock from new (I watched him unwap it from the box!) cracking little piece of kit, defo a manual saftey on the sporter, and fits my requirements perfectly. can't wait to use it in anger as such
fireshot
So far so good which one would be better for me ? I will be useing It mainly on game but will also use on clays no and again .

Spara Dritto
I`v seen it in the sporting gun but have been told that it`s a manual safty catch and some say auto ??, but do I get the Field or sporter now which is best for both. The Auto safty is on the game version. I have had the field gun 28" for a couple months now and absoutly love it. havent used it on game yet but always on clays. . Its slightly heaver then the normal game gun weight at around 7.10lbs for the 28" barrel which he said would make it a perfect all round gun, waterfoul, game, and sporting. I would have to agree, plus with the field model you get the auto safty which should be a must on all guns. People far too often forget about them and makes it very dangerous in a newbies hands. Get the field gun you'll love it!

Farmer-of-the-Futre
Hi Paul what are the differences between a I and III? price too! Cheers Duncan Exactly the same mechanics, you just pay £300 extra for cosmetics (better stock and engraving) other wise the exact same gun. My dad got a silver pigeon 1 just before the start of last season and loves it. used for game, clays and pigeons
Spara Dritto
See this post for SP1 discussion I love mine. Why would you get a sporter for pigeons lol? The game version is already a heavy game gun at 7.10 bls so is an all round good gun. I wouldnt want any more weight!
Thunderbird
I don't have the sporter for pigeons, I have the sporter for Sporting, er, LOL?
Spara Dritto
noooo lol. He wants a gun for pigeons, so why would you tell him to read about the sporter :S Edited March 14, 2011 by Beretta Italy
Thunderbird
Because, there is a lot of discussion on that topic about BOTH versions so I thought the fella might find it illuminating. I did not, ever, 'tell' him to get a Sporter did I? Now can we just leave it at that please?
Spara Dritto
Yes of course, I wasnt arguing, I was just saying its probs advisable to go for the field version if your doing pigeons. I can emigan that the sporter would be good for high pheseants and geese and obviously clays.
n9luke
I bought one last Friday, I got the 30" field version, used it this Saturday when roost shooting, absolutely brilliant gun, feels great, it's meant to be a bit on the heavy side as a game gun but it isnt bad at all, I walked round with it all day satuday without a problem, everything about it is great and at just over £1100 you can't go wrong, personally I don't think anything comes close to it in that price range, if your thinking of getting one my advice would be go get one, you won't be disappointed
Spara Dritto
Goood man, I personally like the heavier weight, its between the weight of a game gun and sporter which fits me nicly!
