poontang
'Magnums' are proofed for a higher service pressure, and are generally chambered for 3" or 3 1/2" cartridges.
foxbuster
90% of new semi's will be proofed for the 3'' carts-which were classed as magnums. Now you've got 3 1/2'' magnums, mostly used for wildfowling. Your probably best getting a 3'' chamber semi as they generally cycle light loads no problem-a 3 1/2'' will struggle to cycle the lighter loads. You will also find more problems threads with the Hatsan on this forum, and any other you care to look at, than any other shotgun ...by miles...just do a search! Unless you decide to buy a decent semi, in which case it will cycle almost everything. I don't want to sound snobbish, but I've looked in a few gunshops and they've offered me a Hatstand, when I have politely declined they give me the same "fair enough" look, almost like they're embarassed to sell them. Probably because they don't cost the thick end of a grand, at least.

True, but if you can't afford a decent semi then why not buy a quality used O/U instead ? I'd rather have two barrels that fire two cartridges than one barrel that fires one, or two, or three, depending on how it feels.

TaxiDriver
The fact there is so many posts both in favour and against Hatsan Semi's is no doubt relevant to the number of Hatsans sold and their popularity. There seems a great deal of 'brand name' snobbery within the hobby. There's far more scope for better profit margins for RFD's selling a gun costing £1000 plus than one costing £

There is little or no snobbery at most levels of shooting, and the people with the BEST (most expensive) guns are commonly the least snobbish, it can on occasion be those aspiring that get their head up their ****! Not sure what the last sentence has to do with anything, sure, the cash is likely to be more for the dealer with more expensive guns, but Hatsans are readily available! ATB! In very broad terms Hatsan are one of the VERY few manufacturers that supply spares with a new gun...O ring, etc, as they know it will not last. ....and why does everyone shout about this brilliant 3 year Hatsan warranty, if they had any confidence in it they would offer a 10 year warranty, like Beretta!
