Elby
I know effort goes into pigeon shooting, we all have to do reccys and unless i have missed a technolgical break through no ones car runs on fresh air yet. Unlike you i can't offer to take any one shooting because i dont own shooting rights to the land but on the flip side because of this any one can go and knock on the farmers door like i did, and if you respect his rules he will let you shoot. Been today and as i was leaving 2 other lads where just setting up, i told them them how its been shooting, where they are coming in from and the best time of day to get them to decoy and didnt charge em out for it. Oh well at least i wont get them paper cuts on my fingers flicking through my property portfolio. But i bet the farmers happy there will be less pigoens eating his crop. You do reccy's for yourself though, I do them for others. Maybe if your farmer is happy that the pigeons are being shot he wouldn't mind if you took some people. It's called putting yourself out, if you're honest though it would mean less pigeon for you. Also for the record I gave away all my vermin shooting for over 15 years for nothing, it was all one way traffic and costing me a fortune so now I make a few quid out of it. It's called free enterprise.
Sprinter
I'm sorry you're shipping grief over this, if you have "birds on" it's good value shooting. However some will never see it this way and insist all shooting should be free. I certainly enjoyed my day with you last year, shot my first ever goose and had a 40+ pigeon day. Before anyone pipes up, i have my own permissions (sadly that i can't invite others on). I still look out for a bit of good value shooting from time to time when my land is dry and i don't have to put in a load of effort but can just turn up and shoot having had someone else work out the flightlines for me. Stick at it and ignore the naysayers.
Dan73
For me - working 5 days solid, then wife/kids/DIY at weekends, paying for Pigeon Shooting works well - I can't promise a Farmer that I can be on a certain field at a certain time, nor can I reccy fields on a regular basis. This works for me, so PM sent!

mrikirkby
I was lucky enough to go shooting today on some new land thanks to a PW post from yesterday and have been welcomed back again soon as the farmer has had his crops hammered ! My point is that it was free but i only shot 3 birds all day and will have to spend a bit of time there to work out flight lines etc if I am to have a good bag and this all costs time and money. £60 for a days shooting were someone else has put all the leg work in isn't so bad and may just give some people the chance to go shooting that dont have land coming out of there ears ! I have got a few permissions and it is hard work to get good results but is worth it in the end. I havent got a problem taking people on my regular permission's with me either if i get to know them well enough, I dont actively advertise but do keep an eye on the "land wanted" post's incase i can help any one out as I believe this is what PW is all about. Keep up the good work Elby
JustJon
Elby, I have neither a license or shotgun yet but when I do I will happily take you up on one of your kind offers of shooting living near buckingham. From a sincere poster, thank you for taking the time and energy to offer sport to the unblessed many who have no permissions or want to shoot vermin only a few times a year. Thank you! You don't need either Jon. I can supply a gun at no extra cost, you just pay for the shells used and need to belong to one of the organisations like BASC

butchdickason
I have my own shooting permissions in Bucks/Oxon, I have also had a day with Elby as my wife was visiting her relations in his area and I wanted to go out to play. Had a good day and I can assure you all that Elby puts the time in to ensure you have the best site on the day. I will be out with him next time she wants to do the relations visit thing. Butch Lucky so and so! And Elby - keep it up mate! I'm lucky enough to have places to shoot and have good days and less good days (for me there are no bad days when I'm out in the fresh air, with any kind of gun and the possibility of quarry being in range ). If I was struggling, I'd be attracted by the prospect of £60 for a guide who knew what he was about and could put you in line of some woodies in decent number. It makes sense for a beginner to go out with an experienced guide who can show him the ropes and quicken the learning pace. I'm taking a newby out myself on sunday (not that I'm a seasoned campaigner by any stretch, but seem to be pulling the birds in ). Nowt wrong with charging for your time to take people out IMO as long as the success rate is pretty high. Albertan_J
Is that your lad Elby? Good fight nice long knees the little lad was awkward with that spinning kick! Yes the Saenchai fight should be interesting as I don't think he really got out of 1st gear against Rob Storey and cruised the first one with Liam. Can't wait for Dean James to fight Howson again in Leeds hope he schools him again as James is a credit to the sport

The black guy was known as one of the best foreign fighters in Thailand, finished lots of people with that spinning heel kick. I watched all his videos and he had a "tell" every time he went to throw it Richy stepped in and hit him 3-4 times. Sanchai likes to cruise these days, likes exhibition matches, I'm not a fan of Sing who owns Sinbi MT.

al4x
its a ridiculous situation where all and sundry want to moan about someone offering shooting. Heres a suggestion, if you don't like it don't post and don't take the offer up. By having a go all you are doing is making sure people don't bother posting the offers on here which means those that do pay for shooting have less choice. What you don't see is that not only does Elby have to pay for the land but also has to pay liability insurance as a guide and the costs just keep adding up
