Beretta italy,

Years ago there was a story about an amateur golfer who was not as good as he thought, playing a round of golf with Jack Nicklaus. This amateur had a Jack Nicklaus sandwedge in his bag,and every time he tried to use it he shanked it or thinned it out of bounds. At the end of the round Jack Nicklaus asked the amateur for the club and said he was taking it into the workshop. The amatuer said wow,are you going to change the lie and the angle of the club for me? Nicklaus said ''no I am going to remove my name from it''......

It can only be a matter of time before the most famous name in Italian shotguns do similar with your forum name.

I see you like a bet from your post to Gordon, well as this is a SHOOTING website how about you take Gordon on 100 sporting £10 a clay spread? Or even better take on Beretta, loser pays money to the PW charity..over to you superstar.

Dougal,

You are a very strange and confused man… I’ve never said I’m the best shooter and never that I want a comp. The reason I asked if anyone wanted to go shooting was so have someone new to shoot with?. You just jump to the conclusion I do. I’ve never said that Gordon isn’t any good… I'm sure he's alot better then me, again I didn't say he wasn't read up… you are too quick to jump to conclusions and you brain is working over time! The only thing I‘ve said is

Gun up is easier then gun down as there is no need to mount the gun and make an error… (why do they teach gun up to new shots?)

You’ve managed to get from that, to me not being the best mechanic in the world, and thinking I think I’m the next George Digweed. You are absolutely pathetic, go on, get a life and find something else to moan about, maybe the weather thats pretty pointless, so I expect you will!:lol::lol::good::good::good:

Beretta Italy

Been following this post. Dont know Gordon R but I have generally found his posts useful and helpful on this site. Dont know you either but I do find your posts over the top and confrontational - maybe you need to reflect not only what you say but how you say it.

Beretta Italy - I too find your recent posts a bit OTT. A laugh is a laugh, but your last post lacked humour and was a bit beneath you.

You have made the comment that I could not still ride a motocross bike. You are correct - age and injuries have taken their toll on me. That said - either of my lads could wipe the floor with you on a motocross track or off it.  :) :) :)

You trot out textbook stuff you have read - I suspect without fully understanding it.

Call a halt and try to add something to the forum. A truce is offered - take it or leave it.

If you leave it, perhaps you could continue by answering the question on the other thread.

Gun up is easier then gun down

I don't think so. Not when you have some experience and not for well over 50% of a sporting layout, if you can consistently mount the gun properly, which it's coming across from your posts that maybe you can't which is why you find gun-up easier? Just something to consider.

(why do they teach gun up to new shots?)

They don't. OK, maybe on some corporate 'have a go' day they do, but surely gun-up as a permanent technique would only be taught if the coach thought the pupil would never get beyond it, to be honest. Or they were shooting trap.

Any coaches here jump in and correct me if I'm wrong...

Gordon, I never wished to offend you, I often said I like your humor, even if it is an my expense, I never said I'm a better shot then you, Infact I know im not.. Yes I'm good at motocross and have done it for a long time, If your children are very good then there is a possibility that they could be better then me, that I do not argue, I'm better then some, some are better then me.. obviously like everything in life.. I'm only passing on what I've read, about gun up being easier as you don't need to worry about mounting it wrong. I don't whish to argue and yes Gordon, Lets leave it at that. If I have offended you (which Im sure I haven't, you seem fairly light hearted, then I apolagise) It's all in good sprit...

I think that coaches would only use it in the first few lessons as it’s slightly easier (in my opinion) as even I did for the first 2... I now never do gun up even for teal etc, which I leave a little below the shoulder. I'm not saying they would use it and make a pupil stick with it for a long time, but maybe to build confidence up and kill some clays instead of always missing, I know if I kept missing the whole time in my first couple lessons I’d be less likely to want to return. I think you miss understood me.

Again, if I'm wrong coach correct me...

On the majority of targets it probably is easier to shoot gun up. As you say it eliminates a poor gun mount.

Surely it makes sense then to shoot the 'easier' method and therefore attain a higher score?

We had a guy on our squad at the Essex Masters who shot a very good 180. He shot every bird 'gun up'.
