Guest rimotu66
Don't diminish the importance of your first successful stalk! Well done. Were you out with a guide? Thanks John, Yes I was out with a guide and did just as he said, we spotted the Buck with 4 Doe's in the truck and parked up, stalked for god knows how far (to be honest I am still trying to remember it all) but we did cross 3 fields and then about 500 yrds along a hedgerow, when we got there they where laying down and the Buck didnt want to show , we waited and my nerves didnt , I really wasnt sure if I could take the shot if I got the chance as I felt so tense, my guide barked and yelped a few times and eventualy the Buck rose quartering me and my Guide whispered to hit him under the arm pit. I went into auto , trigger squeezed and I watched him fall through the scope. Jeez was I shaking. Awesome day and I cant wait for my next day out. Frenchieboy
Well done that man! That one will stay with you for a long long time mate!
John_R
It is just over a year since my first one, and I clearly remember it. A spiker means the antlers are just spikes as opposed to forked. Those can be a good idea to cull as when they fight they are likely to do fatal damage.
243win
That looks like a mature buck to me. Its a cracker, very well done on your first and many more to come. Which county and guide did you go with?
gixer1
Fantastic buck, the shake you get is brilliant isn't it, well done you...no need to belittle it as the trophy buck's are just the same to stalk! they all hear, see and scent the same! again - well done! As said a spiker has basiically 2 "tines" without the fork although some people call them a "switch"... RMC
Thats a nice looking animal, fair play to you. I had my first stalk last week as well and I like you, found it to be exhilarating. I think I will work my way up to larger deer with CWD next on the menu. When back in season of course. ATB RMC

Well done mate, chris is a superb bloke, I have stalked with him about a dozen times over the last 18 months or so, the only problem is he's tall and slim with long legs and its hard to keep up when youre short and fat with stumpy legs, Euston is a fantstic place, wher on the estate did you get the buck mike
