Darcshadow
Ok guys so i go to the air cadets at my school and we use the school minibus to get places. The school has a link with a combined cadet force which is primarily army who also use our minibus. so our ATC and their CCF are not linked yet we share a minibus. so the situation is, one of my staff instructors is getting the bus down the the sqdn area with 3 cadets, as i approach the window the cadets hold up 3 5.56 empties, on closer inspection i see they have remnants of a star crimp, signifying they are blanks, which we know the ccf use, we do not. it turns out, there is a burlap sack (small) filled with about 150-300 empty 5.56NATO blanks under the front dash by passenger seat, i find this utterly disgusting and grossly unprofessional as the minibus, although on easter break, is used by the school and therefore any child aged between 11 and 17 could have found them. Basically i would like to know whether this is a firearms offence due to the fact they are blanks and of such volume, as i dont want the school getting into trouble as it is the CCF's 'rubbish' or any bad press in general for the fair shooter etc, and if so, or not, what advice you think i should take... this monday evening coming i will go and remove them if they are still present and store them in the sqdn's gun cabinet or hand them to the police. thanks guys, hope you understand what i wrote
ajb403
You're asking whether leaving empty brass on a minibus is an offence? Just chuck them in the bin.

welshwarrior
Not against civilian law but breach of military they should be hand straight back to the ammo nco ( prob the PSI) in a CCF all those on the exercise must declare they have no blank rounds or empty cases' before being released the brass needs a Free from Explosive certificate as well. But hey it's only brass don't stress it's very rarely checked
Dave 101
Mountains out of mole hills , why not just find out the name of the person in charge of the vehicle last then give him his rubbish , he probably asked some little grunt to take care of it any way . Zapp
I'm not even going to bother with the brass question. What I will say though is that the abbreviation for "Squadron" is "Sqn", not that alphabetti spaghetti you were coming out with. A space cadet too! Double away and give yourself a good kicking young man .
DaveK
Double away and give yourself a good kicking young man . Or strip to the waist and flagellate your back with birch twigs. Zapp, maybe a new threads in order about TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms) Sgt = Srg, Srj, Sjt etc is the one that grinds my gears.
fortune82
Hand a load of empty blanks to the police!! I've never heard anything so stupid. You can buy them live without needing any form of licence!!!

Not a TLA, but Lieutenant being pronouned "Lootenant" by British newsreaders gets me shouting at the telly, as does anything with a turret and a gun being a "tank". libs
Its the blank that doesn't end up in the 2IC's daysack before its fired you want to worry about. Although If you have that sack on you you'd be telling porkies when you shout "I have no blank rounds pyrotechnics or parts there of in my possession SAAAARRRRR!" Geordie_3
Hand them into the armoury and let them worry about them. Count yourself lucky that that was all the pongos left behind. I've found all sorts of stuff that they have left behind.

But every cadet comes home from the range with a few empties in his pocket. In reality.
