henry d
I`ve been trawling the archives and found these from a good few years ago. We had a good run of fish in late September/early October and they were held in the lower tidal reaches by low water then they suddenly moved into the local club water and they were hard to catch but those that did were monstrous. I remember hooking one just downstream of the chap in this picture, unfortunately it was foul hooked, around about the 35lb weight and took me 2 pools down stream(app 600m),but returned none the worse for it`s ordeal, unlike me I was shattered Will we get days like those again :o
new to the flock
We can always hope Henry....especially since wild rainbow season opens here the last Sunday in April. This was from about 7 years back my oldest boys first ever wild bow, he was 4 years old. It was caught in the stream on my fathers farm. That fish took him around 200 yards downstream through 2 pools and one log jam, and about 45 minutes to land. And yes Daddy was very proud of him. :o Edited March 30, 2006 by new to the flock

scolopax
Is that a hooked fish or just a fish moving in the river?
Lord Geordie
Henry I will take the one in the second pic please with a tarragon dressing They look good size fish and it's ALWAYS good for sport when they can put up a good fight. I am NOW in the habit of releasing ALL my fish now i never keep a fish unless it dies from a swallowed hook etc. I was well and truely b0ll0cked in Wales when i let all the trout i caught back into the lake I payed to fish and thought it would be fine to release but the owner went SPARE screaming how the hell can i keep tag of what fish are in here if you put em back??? :o Pike are my Fave for Fishing i can lye on the lakeside for hours catching sun reading a book and then the bite indicator goes. Best days in the world are spent Fishing and Shooting LG

henry d
I gave up carp fishing when I found a carp I had caught dead in the shallows,it was bleeding when I put it back I don`t want to fish if I HAVE to put a fish back, but I don`t have a prob with others doing this,as that is their choice. LG - I wouldn`t have that one it`s a kipper........this is a fish to savour

the pelt man
The Islanders there said it was the largest they had seen caught of the rocks on the Island. Arrived on the island with the Farther-in-law in the eve he siad lets go spinning. After 5 mins he caught a fish a little bigger than the 30g spinner, lets go back to the Cabin he says. next morning he's still in bed so of i go the Bird & the Worm came into play, 6.30am 20mins later "BANG WEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee" god knows how many runs later but after a good 15min fight i landed it no Net or Gaff, had to tire it right out. Great Eating "thats what Fishing is all about". Takes a Brit to show them how to fish:
waddy
I've got a real thing for Scotland although don't get up there half as much as i'd like to, My great Aunt & Uncle lived at the side of Loch Tay in just outside Killin until they passed away, I used to love it there. I also spent a week climbing a couple of years ago in Aviemore, we stayed in Grantown on Spey which is also nice. If I could get the salary I earn down here up there I would definately consider moving
