minghis
Yes thats the place, in Wiveliscombe. Nice shop, pleasant people, but the staff should be wearing a mask and brandishing a pistol to give you a clue about the prices. Regrettably it seems they charge premium prices as they have a bit of a captive market. Nearest large town is Taunton, no gun shop. West Country Guns covers a massive geographical area with a high percentage of their demographic having the means to buy what they want without questioning the price - this would explain why this particular shop has 90% of its floor area crammed with high end clothing... Folk who need to get value who live in or near Taunton find themselves using Avalon at Street or Sportsmans at Exeter.
Blunderbust
today i paid £20 for a box of 17hmr blue tips yes £20 and £9.50 for a box of winnie subs for the .22 can any one top that? Well mate it certainly does look like you have been had. I just called FT and spoke to Paul who quoted me £14.50 for a box of 50. I think this is still high but is a far better price than £20 a box. By the way he only has 300 rounds left. I can't understand how he thinks he can get away with selling his regulars, especially one of the estates the same ammunition but bump a £5.50 increase on them. I think if you did get charged £20 for 50 rounds you need to be speaking to whoever runs the estates procurement account and have them discuss this with Paul, as being a regular customer they should at least, be getting a 10% discount on the quoted price of £14.50 per 50 rounds. al4x
I can't make my mind up if this is true or comically inept, what keeper buys ammunition in those quantities? I know my local one buys 1000 every 6 months or so they go on the estate bill and they then claim the VAT back so it turns into an almost bargain situation compared to the rest of us. That is exactly what I am finding hard to get my head round, I know many keepers and estate factors and every one of them are as tight as they can be when it comes to the purse strings, basically they have to be as part of their job. To be efficient at such a job one needs to plan way ahead and as you quite rightly say they probably have a set amount of sundries that needs to be bought to cover them for a set period which will be within the budget for that period and every receipt is accounted for with reference to the Vat and what can be clawed back. Just have a look at my Avatar that should give you an idea considering you live and work in the heart of Black Watch country, I served 27 years and left in 2004. Most of the estates in and around your area have some sort of connection. I also served with Tayside Police for 5 years before I retired and moved down south. kent
Be interested to see how you get on with those, accuracy and knock down power wise once you have used a few. A they are the best .22 sub as regards stopping power - period end of story in mine accurracy is not an issue at 50 as it shoots anything into a raggy hole at that range, it won't match lapua at extended ranges but then again nothing will and lapua are not the best killers. The round realy does segment into three head sections + the base inside a rabbit i know this from recovery of the bits
