Pigeon Paul
Went out to my permission this morning to field test my new shooting stools on a field of vine peas. Set up about 9.30 with about 12 shell pigeon decoys to my left and a circle of 6 full bodied crows to my right. Slow start with only 2 jackdaws and 1 pigeon then what wind there was died away and it went dead for about an hour. Just got out the hide to collect in the decoys and start packing up when I noticed a number Hare's leave the woods I had my back to about 100 yards down the field. I got back in the hide and watched them run around for a couple of minutes wishing I had my SLR with me . One by one they took interest in my decoys and made there way over. The farmer has mentioned a few times about the number of Hare's on the land and has told me "Blast them if you get the chance". Well..... I did and 1/2 an hour later I had 4 Hare's in the bag and an extremely happy farmer What the farmers wants the farmer gets! TaxiDriver
I've seen a number of Hares on my permission, being new to this I hadn't gotten around to checking if they're shootable and wether theyre classed as pest or game ? Every time I come home thinking I must look them up.... I've forgotten by time I get home.

.philmypower.
Theres quite a few hares on my permission but the farmer doesnt like them being shot, he allows me to shoot anything else but likes the hares so i respect his wishes and leave them alone. Good shooting pal

Highlander
Sporting gentlemen DO NOT shoot Hares outside of the game season!
Pigeon Paul
This Sporting gent totally agree's and normally would not touch them any time of the year! Had I had my camera with me, I would of quite happily sat and "shot" them with that. But as per my first post "What the farmer wants, the farmer gets". al4x
Sporting gentlemen DO NOT shoot Hares outside of the game season! surely most get shot just after the game season on Hare drives. I know ours are February in this case who knows why the farmer wants rid but I do get asked to trim a few up from time to time as they can be devastating to game cover emerging. But we do have decent numbers due to the fox and ***** control that goes on round us
