And said well how far will a 243 bullet go about a mile. Yer mate and the rest. Think some of them need educating more

On my 40grn Winnie HP .22WMR boxes it says 'Dangerous within one and three quarter miles'. I suspect a .243 might exceed that

Must have had a refresher course before he got to yours then

At the same time he said you could reload because you had to have a explosives license,

& you couldn't use a Rem 17 for Fox

I also reload for my cf rifles so I guess he must have had a refresher course as he didn't even mention it

A .243 at 45 degrees can far exceed 1800 yards.

Hi Bleeh,

You're right that it will exceed a mile. A 243 will be pushing 2.5 miles at max, bullet depending.

The incorrect thing is the angle. The angle you need for maximum distance is much lower, again bullet depending. For low BC bullets and shotguns you're looking around 25 degrees above horizontal. For higher BC bullets you'll get into the high 30's. It is something that a lot of people don't realize- just how shallow the angle is to hit max distance. Shooting up a hill without a good backstop will get you close to max distance.

Thanks,

Rick

yeah, thats the norm. the real worrying thing is how can you possibly ***** someones knoledge or safety if you don't shoot, have never shot and rely only on a weeks training from another no nothing. Have a look on U-tube i have seen quite a few vidios showing scant regards for safety, including one joker shooting his .22 hornet into a pile of stone and hardcore as a backstop and you can hear traffic and see buildings and plant about. more and more this worries me

Now I've put some thought into it, I feel a bit stupid for not realising this in the first place.

Cheers for the correction.
