SNAKEBITE
I read it in the currant this morning, well I don't get it for the news do I? Sounds like a bit of a jolly doesn't it?
Ferret Master
Hi, HHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMM Lisenced gamekeepers with air rifles? I doubt they are using FAC guns so they don't need certificates and you don't need a licence to be a gamekeeper. FM
Country_est
Not much of a gardener myself, but I wouldn't have thought the vegtables were yet beyond seeds in the green houses of said allotments. , think this one may be picked up 6 days late.... MC
This was reported on GMTV this morning, the gardeners have bought in a young lad with an air rifle to sort this out. If it is as big as the reporters make out he will need a howitzer It will probably turn out to be a plasticine dog with changes into a rabbit every full moon :( Still if he does shoot it it will feed an army for a week. Cranfield
Odds are its a muntjac.
tenbears10
Grower Jeff Smith, 63, said: "This is no ordinary rabbit. We are dealing with a monster. "It is absolutely massive. I have seen its prints and they are huge, bigger than a deer. It is a brute of a thing." Ok stop me if i'm wrong but deer prints I have seen are small and look nothing like paws (what with them having hooves and all). Don't even get me started on animal welfare types wanting the poor rabbit trapped rather than shot.
SNAKEBITE
Not forgetting in the paper the man described it as "Black and brown with one ear bigger than the other". Kinda rules out muntjac!
Cranfield
I don't think the person describing it, is that familiar with wildlife. Muntjac are shades of brown and have quite long ears. When feeding with their backsides in the air, smaller muntjac could look a bit like large hares, especially in twilight conditions. I also think the "deer like hoof prints" are a bit of a clue. Foxer
yeah i agree with Cranfield about it being a muntjac, i just hope the person who is trying to shoot the 'were rabbit' doesn't try and take it out with his airgun foxer Edited April 7, 2006 by Foxer
