beanieboy
I started to use these when I recently purchased a CZ452 - whist they are very accurate, it is very difficult to get them to bolt through - the final push down of the bolt is very tight. Have since stopped using them for this reason and now use Winchester Super X - these bolt through very smoothly and are just as accurate as the Eley - anyone else find the Eley a bit tight? C00KIE
No, but i used to know a girl called Ellen that was a bit tight... I had very good results with these but no loading issues, mind you my rifle is a BRNO mod1 circa 1969, so may be a bit slacker, come to think of it i knew a girl like that once aswell . I also got very good results from RWS HP`s and RWS HV`s. I now shoot with CCI`s HP`s which are equally as good as the others, but different rifles like different food... fo5ter
Yes, occasionally I found the odd Eley that was a bit stiff. I didn't think anything of it until the shop ran out of Eleys and I had to buy CCI's - not had any problems since then. This is in a Sako Quad. arjimlad
I found I needed to keep the chamber and bolt head nice & clean with Eleys, or they'd stick in the breech unless fired. CZ452.
bunny_blaster
I get the same problem with my brno mod 2. Doesnt bother me though. Cheers Ben

I had exactly the same problem and settled on SK (Lapua) Subs. After trying everything I could get hold of they had the edge on accuracy and consistency, unfortunately priced at the higher end though but still affordable and worth it. 39TDS
Never had them feel tight but have found them to be the most inaccurate round I have ever had the misfortune of being talked into buying. Absolutely baffles me everytime I hear people say they are accurate as I have found the complete opposite. I honestly wouldn't have them given to me. Any other round is fine, and Winchester subs are my favourites by far. (1969 BRNO too) Edited June 17, 2011 by 39TDS
Dekers
You will find tolerances in manufacture of everything, including the rifle. I used a few Eley way back and don't recall this problem (they were nothing special and didn't expand well though), I used a lot of CCI Velocitors (interesting round) and CCI 40g Subs (ok) and it was all I could do to close the bolt sometimes with the CCI. Remington Yellow Jackets HP were OK in my Silhouette, fast and flat and expanded well, can't remember, about 32g I think. I have hardly used anything but Magtech 40g subs for years in my CZ and they work well for me, BETTER overall than Eley (many just can't believe that), but even the price of these is going through the roof. 60 yard 40g Magtech.22lr just a few weeks back during a zeroing session, normal sort of group, that's the 20p, the best it's done, (and in the same session), that's the 5p, 3 shots in the same hole at 60 yards. Many apparently struggle to get shotgun groups with Magtech, funny old world! Edited June 17, 2011 by Dekers
bicykillgaz
i must be quite lucky my cz although it definately groups tighter with eley subs 1/2" groups or less on a still day, it also shoots ok with cci and winchesters subs, the cci was the better of the two, i had a lot of inconsistency in the depth of the hollows on winchester super x's some was more like dimples or flat ends i took two different lots back because of this and stopped using them. Eley are more consistent build wise and accuracy for me. I've not had any problems loading or ejecting rounds that i can think of either, must just be lucky in that respect. My CZ is exactly the same mate. No problems with cycling the Eley Subs and def better groups than anything else I have tried. CCI don't cycle at all well in my gun so they weren't even an option when trying different ammo and I found Winnie Subs didn't group nearly as well as the Eleys. I suppose everybodies guns are different.
