Try not to be nervouse, easier said then done on time's i know. And when/ if he asks any questions

just try an answer all of them as truthfully as you can. That's about the only advice any one can give.

Hope it all goes well for you mate an you get your SGC.

Usually if you get an interview your 3 quarters the way there as they have done a fair few checks on

you. Not sure if you would get an interview if you put an application in an some thing came up which

meant you would stand little or no chance of having a your SGC granted.

Perhaps some one in the know could inlighten me on that one. Do you/ don't you get an

interview if they find some thing on you after all their checks on application, which

could seriously jepordise your eligability of getting a SGC.

Or just a polite letter through the door that says sorry but your application has been denied

due to the following reasons..

Chap, if you know its spelt wrong try the spell checker :hmm:

What's a FAO?

From what you suggest it is SGC you are after not FAC, if you get knocked back it will be down to the fact you are some sort of radical nut, have a serious medical record, or unfortunate criminal record.

If none of that applies to you chill out, offer him a cuppa and ask when the Certificate will arrive!

I read on here that it goes in your favour if you visit your local clay ground and have a lesson or just a try out session. I did this and my FLO seamed happy I had. They know if you've done that you will have been thro the basic saftey do's and don'ts.

Go to a local shooting ground and have a intro lesson before the interview,

The FAO will probably ask why you want one, where you are going to shoot and any experience

If you don't know where you are going to shoot and have no knowledge of shooting shotguns, he may feel a lack of interest and decline

It is your right to hold a licence but you do need to show a reason why they should issue it

I would suggest getting very familiar with safety aspects of shooting . I read the BASC handbook which covers it really well . Everything from unloading to cross a ditch to ensuring safe backstops . I think it helps to make it obvious you are serious about doing it the right way . Good luck , you will be fine .

Just a small point and a subtle comment here....

I rather think you will find a Firearms Officer is a guy who will commonly drive around in an ARV, or whatever they call them these days, and shoot people as the situation dictates.

Your man is a FEO, a Firearms Enquiry Officer! :good:

ATB!

"What's a FAO?" - Firearms officer.

Just be honest, relaxed and ask any questions you wish. If your aren't crazy like Dekers said, you should sail through it.

One too many words in the first phrase of the second sentence, second paragraph.

Make sure you have all your locks and cabinet done before he/she comes to visit. As my FEO said they don't want us to live behind big iron doors or make our homes look like prisons. What they want to see is that we take the possession of firearms seriously. Make a note of any changes they want you to make and have some questions ready for them. They are not ogres and are there to help you as well as make sure they are not letting firearms get into the wrong hands. I've had my SGC for a couple of years and love them. Got taught to shoot by a nice lady woh has shot for England.

Just waiting for my FEO to come back as I have gone for my FAC for a 22LR.
