Target Practice
Hi all, Quick question... I typically shoot afternoon through to evening because this fits in well with my work. But i now have the opportunity to start shooting mornings. Question = How early do you hit the fields, set up and start shooting this time of year? As soon as daylight appears...? say 5.30am? or not worth it? I plan to do some morning reconnaisance work over my permissions but am interestd in your views before i set out please??? Many thanks!!!! Sharpshooter.123
As early as possible less disturbance around your pattern area if you set up at say 5:
proTOM1
This time of year unless you can geet on the fields at first light (3.15am ) then it seems to be better mid to late afternoon ,winter shooting is totaly different as its best to be there at first light . motty
Good question. I've had big bags on rape stubble, starting at first light.Pigeons can decoy very well just after leaving the roost. However, i much rather these days let pigeons have their first feed in peace. I think this gives them that bit more confidence in returning to the field later on. I would start at around 9.30 -10.00 am, but any time thereafter is good. BenBhoy
i usually get there early as possible, whilst being considerate if very early and near houses. usually shoot until 11ish before heading home then going back about 3 or 4 until they go roost. wyatt
Didn't bother going out till 2pm on Sunday, setup at 3pm after checking out a few locations and then shot till about 7pm. Nothing about in the mornings where I'm currently shooting, recce your area and you'll know the best times!

activeviii
depends on the area. if there is no houses close then i have started shooting at 0430. if in a built up area then around 0900 until 1730. i tend to shoot until i start missing easy birds, thats telling me i'm tired so i just call it a day. there's always tomorrow to have another go. proTOM1
As early as possible less disturbance around your pattern area if you set up at say 5:30 The problem with do an early start at this time of year is there are loads of fields for the birds to feed on ,so starting first light you can push them to other fields for the rest of the day . I tend to stat midday time letting the birds have a feed at first light then getting them on the afternoon feed
