scolopax
Well its that time of year again when my thoughts start to turn to the prospect of the mud, mallards and mozzies of early season 'fowling. My club will be issuing season tickets for wildfowling on the Humber at just £50. The permit allows access to 6 miles of foreshore shooting at Sunk Island on the north bank of the estuary. Applicants must have insurance, preferably BASC membership. Shooting is for wildfowl only, main species mallard, teal and wigeon, non toxic shot only. PM me for more details. scolopax
Nick : Should be sorted now, emptied my inbox. Hi Matt, only day tickets are issued on the upper Humber and they are administered by another club member.

Magus69
Well I thought there would be a few more posts than this I hope some have gone straight by PM. The sunk island permit has some very good shooting on it and given the right weather can be rather exceptional.I shot on the permit for a few years before deciding that I had to become a full member of the association I loved the place that much. This permit is perfect for those just starting out, and I would be more than happy to have someone tag along if they want to give the north bank a try. Mike... Kes
Good to hear that BASC's involvement has, with local clubs involved, resolved all the problems and the Humber is open again. I'm not a great supporter of BASC, cost of membership being my main concern, (although I am a member) but credit to them for 'saving' the situation. Not sure most of the clubs would agree with that statement.

Basc saved the day ? Basc staff lied and decieved the membership to steal the licence from the 6 humber clubs that make up the UHWC. When the deception and lies were exposed on another forum, they backed off "partially" an appology form John swift was sent out to the upper humber wildfowl committee but still they continued to put thier oar in one way or another despite assurances. AT this moment in time the licences are still "not" in the hands of the UHWC through the involvment of Basc and their unapropriate actions, although we are "hopefull" that everything will be sorted for the 1st of september. A internal investigation into the conduct of the basc staff responsible has supposed to have taken place, but as yet we have not heard the outcome. Terry and Double Four, Sorry to have put the cat amongst the pigeons - I was not speaking from personal experience but from 'received wisdom'. Sorry to hear you are still having problems. I presume somewhere there is a 'gagging agreement' or otherwise we'd have heard the details on here. I trust, for the sake of your fowling, that all 'comes good'. scolopax
The current problems on the upper Humber do not affect the shooting grounds we have at Sunk Island (lower Humber), so permits are fully availble to anyone wanting to take one for this forthcoming season. Albertan_J
Lovely bit of ground I was out inspecting the stone revetment the other week and gave a lad a lift down in the landy. If it was closer to home I would love to take a permit. Does it cover the ground from the pumping station downstream?
Magus69
The Sunk Island permit doesn't cover downstream from the pumping station at the end of Winestead drain at Patrington,it covers west (upstream) of the refuge at Patrington all the way upto Stone Creek.
