Decoying on rape stubble

Decided to have a go at the woodys again today, Iv been watching the numbers build all week and also been watching the traffic into and out of the field,

Set up this morning with 10 flocked shells on eezee wobbler spring stick things, a flapper in the middle, and towards the back of the decoys. I decided to try the rotary in a different place this time, so I put it at the back of the pattern and off to one side.

The birds seemed to like what they saw and started decoying in nicely

After about an hour I noticed the main flight line across the field had changed, and was now at the top end of the field. There were small groups of 10s and 15s constantly pouring across said part of field and I was on the verge of packing up and moving, but in short, I couldn't be bothered

The birds continued to decoy steadily throughout the day, (no where near as busy as the top of the field  ) I managed a few right & lefts and on 3 occasions I was on for my first tripple with the Maxus, unfortunately, all 3 times, I dropped the 1st and 2nd bird and took the ar$£ out of the 3rd  so still no triples with the Maxus

Anyway, I finnished the day with 207 but unfortunately I lost 29 birds in the standing wheat fields around me, and as they are being cut soon I didn't want to go traipsing through it all and flattening it

Very good bag mate well done, shot that small rape field for a few hours yesterday not much luck at all. There was someone else shooting as well with 2 rotarys etc so most birds were going there and then once they had been shot at were screaming high above my head so in all had the great sum if 2!

Looking forward to when they cut the wheat/barley so I can get stuck in(taking my flapper next time :good:)

That's got to be your first big bag of pigeons this year :hmm::good:

That was Craig and Dave with the 2 rotarys.

I was sat with them for a while in the afternoon, they did say someone came over and had a chat.

What time did you go there and where did you set up :hmm:

Well done mjt also :good: set up at the bottom of the field facing a Ditch towards the middle at the end of that bit of scrubland but at an angle away from Craig if that makes any sense :hmm:
