crieffy
It's been a looooong wait, but a worthwhile one. Had it out after bunnies yesterday and got 25 from 30 shots. It's still heavy but the balance is greatly improved, especially with the bipod and moderator fitted. I uploaded an album here with photos of the stock before and after. crieffy
Very nice! I bet it cost you a few bob! Cost including shipping and import charges was £140, so not too bad. I finished most of sanding in 2 days, then spent the next week applying the finish. There are a few small blemishes, but it's going to receive a few dings and scrapes through day to day use anyway. They quoted me a delivery 8-9 weeks originally.... but it took 16!! They did apologise though and also refunded me part of the cost due to a mistake in the specification I wanted. Cranfield
What a superb "grain" effect, almost a work of art, rather than a weapon. Any other pics from different angles ?

gibby
That is a work of art, you have done a good job there. Can these stocks be made for any gun? Gibby

crieffy
That is a work of art, you have done a good job there. Can these stocks be made for any gun? Gibby Here's the website http://www.rifle-stocks.com/ There's a load of different rifles they cater for and you can pick and choose what colour and style you want. I'm delighted how mine has turned out - I'd read horror stories about how rough they were, but was surprised at how complete it was on delivery. No specialist tools were required - just my trusty Dremel for tidying up the inletting, a couple of wood rasps and some different grades of sandpaper and steel wool for rubbing down the Tru Oil. I'm considering doing another one, in a sporter style, for my Dad's birthday.

Axe
Crieffy it look s damn good mate, well done. How do you find the fit, is it comfortable?
crieffy
It feels great - especially with standing shots - I've got much better grip and control now. Overall it is slightly heavier, but feels much lighter with more weight towards the rear. I had a go bedding it yesterday, though it probably didn't need it, as it was pretty solid already. Cheers, John
Dunkield
John, Quality work well done I bedded (easy boys!) my Richards stock recently, how did it work out for you? I used the Accruglas kit from JLS, worked well but was bit messy, and was pacing up and down wondering if I had just glued my stock to the action forever

Axe
With any luck Stuart, they don't do one to fit the Quad.
Dunkield
You are in luck Axe... They don't "Sako: Finnfire, L46 Clip, L57 Old, L461 Vixen, L579 Forester, L61 Finnbear, L491, M591, M691, A-I, A-II, A-III, A-IV, A-V, SAKO 75 #1, 75 #2, 75 #3, 75 #4, 75 #5 , Model 995(with blind magazine box)" Although of course a real craftsman would buy a laminate blank and inlet it himself
crieffy
My bedding job seems to have worked ok (never done it before) I just used some of that liquid metal stuff around the front of the receiver and about 2" of the barrel. At the tang mounting hole I put in some more of the liquid metal and topped it off with a stainless washer. Not having a proper release agent, I just covered it in Lurpack Spreadable If this wind ever dies down here I'll try shooting a paper target and see how it groups... I re-finished the original stock with Tru Oil too - it's turned out better than how it was new (wouldn't have been hard though ) Feel at a bit of a loose end now, not having the stocks to work on.... I feel a variation for another rifle coming on.....
