MC
Hi Guys, This thought has been whizzing around the old grey matter for a while. There is several members who are from Essex on here now and I was wondering if you fancy meeting up for a clay shoot? To start things off I thought of Saturday June 17th at Braintree Shooting Centre. For a round of Skeet and then a 75 bird sporting. Last time I shot there it was £23.00 per 100 clays, supply your own cartridges. Let me know what you think. You don't have to be from Essex, just turn up and have some fun. Cheers Martin
Markio
Sounds like a good idea. I still don't own a gun (maybe that'll change this weekend!?!?!) and i've only shot once (yeah i know but i'm at the very start of a shooting hobbie ) but with a bit of luck i can get my own gun and some practice in and join you all by mid June. MC
No you are right it is the 17th June. I did shoot there on Saturday just to check things out. They have had a bit of a shift around with the stands and there is some interesting targets. There is nothing particularly difficult, even the high tower seemed slow. I did appaulingly bad on the skeet range averaging 50% over two rounds 12 first time and 13 second time, still at least I improved. Mungler
Right then, I need to get some practice in.... To be honest, I find skeet pretty boring. It's English sporting for me all the way.
MC
Mungler, At last someone else who shares my view on skeet. I have shot it twice in the last year and for some reason have never straighted it I much prefer sporting as the variation hold my interest. I trust we will see you on the 17th Cheers Martin
dunganick
What time would we have in mind? I can in theory make a reasonably early morning. (dependant on how long the drive will be)
Mungler
What time would we have in mind? I can in theory make a reasonably early morning. (dependant on how long the drive will be) Come along. Even Kent boys are most welcome. Do however remember to bring along a copy of the Thompson Local - you will need it.
MC
The ground opens at 9.00 AM but has to close at 1.00PM sharp due to the neighbours complaining of the noise while they are cutting their lawns on a saturday afternoon. I will try my best to post some directions for you Nick, when I have decided the easiest way for you to get there. I suggest that we get there early as it can get very busy, plus they do excellent bacon rolls Cheers Martin
Mungler
And don't forget the Thompson Local.

Mungler
It's to put down your trousers in anticipation of a damn good thrashing from the Mungler....
MC
The address is; CLAYHOUSE SHOOTING SCHOOLS LTD. FENNES ESTATE FENNES ROAD BOCKING, BRAINTREE, CM7 5PL ESSEX Phone: 01376 343900 Fax: 01376 343900 Best way I think to get there from Kent is; M25 to J28, A12 towards colchester, leave the A12 at the B1389 towards Witham and Braintree, follow the signs for braintree and keep going until you come to a roundabout with a McDonalds on it. Go straight over this r'bout following signs for Colchester. You will pass a texaco garage and a brewers fayre resturaunt on your left. At the next r'bout go straight over for about a mile, at the next r'bout turn rightafter a couple of hundred yards you will see a brown roadsign saying Fennes estate and fisheries and Braintree shooting ground. turn left into church rda little way down this rd you will pass a fish and chip shop on your left and you need to turn right soon after. This is Fennes rd, it is quite narrow and windy for about a mile and the ground will be on your right Cheers Martin
tosspot
i am seriously considering making the journey up if only to put a face to satorial wit known as "the mungler" at present i have a mental image of a cross between Duncan Norvil and Charlie Drake would anyone be interested in a .410 challenge? Mungler
I am concerned at your choice of comedians. As for the .410 challenge, would love to, but I will be using my 12g multichoke o/u
